Wellness Warrior Word
Block time for self care

To be honest, I took the first week at home and was in shock. My routine was off, and I didn’t exercise much. I started getting back into my routine, going to bed at my normal hour instead of staying up to watch the news. I am getting up at 5am as usual instead of sleeping in which allows me to meditate and do qigong before my youngest wakes up. I am going on daily walks outside even if they are short. Lastly, I am now turning off my phone for a period each day to distance myself from the news updates so I can get present with my family and find moments of joy.

Build your Resilience Muscles
With continued needs for physical distancing, it can feel isolating to people of any age. During this time, remember to practice kindness for yourself and others.

  • Call, text or e-mail a friend or loved one to show support.
  • Schedule a Zoom or FaceTime call
  • Have a friend or family member with school-aged kids? Offer to connect with the kid virtually to give the parent a respite.
  • Give extra hugs and bone up on your knock-knock jokes -- Comfort and humor are great resilience builders!

Focus on Anti-Racism
21-day Race Equality Challenge
Creating effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of power, privilege, supremacy and leadership is like any lifestyle change. Setting our intentions and adjusting what we spend our time doing is essential. It’s all about building new habits.

For 21 days, do one action per day to further your understanding of power, privilege, supremacy, oppression, and equity. The challenge includes suggestions for readings, podcasts, videos, observations, and ways to form and deepen community connections.
Track your progress with  THIS PDF  .

Worth 6 Wellness Points!

To earn your wellness points, email your tracking sheet to the wellness manager when you have completed your 21 days:  kwittekind@coconino.az.gov.

Vanpool is a transportation option for commuters who travel more than 20 miles on a regular basis. Mountain Line Vanpool provides vans to groups of 5-14 commuters, driven by one of the vanpool members. Commuters share the cost of operating the van by paying a monthly fee to our contractor, Commute with Enterprise.
