Building Hope and Resilience Through Prevention and Intervention

Throughout this month, we’ve shared a variety of resources to support individuals at risk of suicide. MAS-SSF is committed to both prevention and intervention, in light of this we want to ensure you have easy access to support systems in our community. Following is a summary of the key resources we highlighted throughout the month:

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988, or chat online at 988lifeline.org for free, confidential emotional support—available 24/7. Trained counselors can provide immediate help and connect you with prevention and crisis resources for yourself or a loved one.

  • MAS-SSF’s Amala Youth Hopeline: A year-round, anonymous phone line where trained volunteers (ages 18-30) provide one-on-one confidential support with culturally responsive care for youth. Call 855-95-AMALA (26252). Available Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday | 6–10 PM PT

  • MAS-SSF’s Shifa for Youth Program: In-person workshops led by trained Peer Support Specialists, creating safe spaces for young people to learn, share, and build resilience.

  • MAS-SSF's Shifa for Today Program: Certified Peer Support Counselors provide culturally appropriate, HIPAA-compliant care to families and individuals facing distress due to everyday stressors or challenges rooted in trauma, anxiety or depression. You choose your counselor, language, and format—virtual, phone, or in-person.

  • The Family & Youth Institute Prevention Toolkit: A national resource offering knowledge and tools to prevent, intervene, and respond to suicide risk in Muslim communities. We encourage you to download the toolkit and explore ways to strengthen prevention efforts in your own circles.
