During the federal government shutdown, the National Park Service has authorized Pacific Historic Parks to share official updates, notices, and events for Pearl Harbor National Memorial on our website.

Defining Courage: Live in Honolulu

Pacific Historic Parks is proud to sponsor Defining Courage, a live multimedia production honoring the Nisei soldiers of World War II. Blending storytelling, film, and live music, the performance shares the courage of Japanese American soldiers who fought prejudice at home and the enemy abroad.

Honoring 250 Years of the U.S. Marine Corps

This November marks the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps. To celebrate, Marines and their families can enjoy free Admiral’s VIP Tours on November 8–9.


To redeem the free offer, please present a valid military ID upon check-in at the USS Arizona Narrated Tour desk located in the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center courtyard. Members of the public can reserve their Admiral’s VIP Tour for a fee at www.ussarizonatours.com/tours/uss-arizona-admirals-vip-tour. The tour is family-friendly and available throughout the day. 

Veterans Day at Pearl Harbor

On Tuesday, November 11, join Pacific Historic Parks for a Flag Flying and Folding Ceremony in honor of Veterans Day.


Active-duty military personnel are invited to assist with the USA Flag Flying at the USS Arizona Memorial, while volunteers fold flags at Pearl Harbor National Memorial.

Free Admiral’s VIP Tours for Military

In appreciation of those who serve, Pacific Historic Parks is offering free USS Arizona Admiral’s VIP Tours to all active duty, reserve, and retired military members and their families on Veterans Day.

NPS Day of Service

Saturday, November 22 | 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Give back to Pearl Harbor National Memorial by joining National Park Service rangers and volunteers to care for the site. Activities include picking up litter, cleaning waysides, and washing the USS Utah and Oklahoma Memorials.

December 7th Commemoration – Save the Date

Ceremonies:

  • December 6: USS Utah Ceremony, 4:30 p.m. (open to the public; Ford Island access required)
  • December 7: National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony, 7:30 a.m. (open to the public)
  • December 7: USS Oklahoma Ceremony, 1:00 p.m. (open to the public; Ford Island access required)

Wreath Donations

Organizations interested in having a wreath displayed at the National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Commemoration should submit a request by November 25.

Diamond Head State Monument

Welcoming Visitors

To better serve guests, two new visitor kiosks have been added at Diamond Head State Monument. These kiosks provide interpretive materials, park updates, and helpful guidance, enhancing accessibility and the visitor experience.


Diamond Head remains open seven days a week, but visitors should be aware that the park will be closed on Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1).

Nisei Congressional Medal

The Nisei Soldiers of World War II were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal on November 2, 2011, in a ceremony at the US Capitol Visitor Center. This award recognized the service of Japanese American veterans in the 100th Infantry Battalion, the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, and the Military Intelligence Service during World War II.

Marine Corps Day and Birthday

Recognizing the official founding of the US Marine Corps by the Second Continental Congress on November 10, 1775 for the Revoluntionary War. Honoring the legacy, traditions, and shared history of the branch, this year is the US Marine Corps' 250th birthday.
