JULY 23rd, 2020
“Together is a wonderful place to be.”

Today let's talk about being together. Let's talk about eating roasted corn together. Let's talk about eating hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, chicken tenders, pulled pork...together. Cause that is what is going to happen starting on Friday, July 31st! Elkhorn Corn & Brat Days is coming and all of us at the Elkhorn Chamber are excited!! And we're nervous. But a lot excited! And you know, a pinch nervous. This is us ripping the proverbial band-aid and hoping for the best. So now we get to practice what we type and expect with confidence that Elkhorn Corn & Brat will be a success. However, success will look different than years past.

This year we have had to make changes and alter how we will host a large outdoor festival. With limited volunteers, we have partnered with two food trucks to help make sure that the highlighted protein of the event will be handled, cooked and distributed safely. We will have additional space for lines of hungry guests to social distance while dreaming about mouthwatering meats and fried delights. We will have three soda/water stations strewn about the park. We will increase hand washing stations. We will be strategic in how we lay out vendors and increase space between booths. And sadly, we will not have bounce houses and slides for all the children of Elkhorn to share germs (oops) I mean play on! These are just a few of the things that have changed. So what will be the same you might ask?

We are still going to celebrate our community the best way we know how, by being together! We will have three fantastic live bands to enhance the festivities. We will have craft and market vendors for all our shoppers. Downtown businesses will be waiting with open arms to welcome you into their stores! And as always, you will be welcomed by the Elkhorn Chamber staff and volunteers to enjoy time together with friends, family and co-workers while we celebrate our community!

A successful Corn & Brat Days will look different this year. Success will be marked by a respectful partnership between those that help organize the event and our community. It will be measured by the grace and understanding from our community who share a concern for public safety. Success will be driven by lifting up one word: togetherness.

So, 1...2...3 (band-aid rip)
Keep smiling, keep sanitizing, and stay safe!
