Dear Friends,

As we look back on 2024, we’re filled with gratitude and excitement as we reflect on the strides we’ve made together. With your steadfast support, Radiant Futures has been able to focus deeply on creating a community free from violence.

Your generosity enables survivors, like Angelina and her son Siras, to access compassionate resources and ongoing support, empowering them at every step of their journey toward safety and independence.

Every life-changing program and every community event this year tells a story of hope and resilience—milestones made possible because of your commitment to a safer, stronger community.

Together, we’ve provided critical resources and expanded our reach in Orange County and beyond.

Through our Bridge Housing Program, we provide safe, temporary housing and tailored support, giving survivors the stability to rebuild their lives. Legal services have brought survivors peace of mind, knowing protections are in place, while our clinical and community services support survivors, teens, and children as they heal, build resilience, and reclaim their power.

Thank you for your partnership in building a future where survivors can heal, thrive, and regain control of their lives.

This year, our Hope House continued to be a place of healing and renewal for survivors working toward long-term stability. In a challenging housing market, where affordable options are limited, finding a stable home is one of the biggest hurdles survivors faces after leaving our shelter.

That’s why Radiant Futures’ commitment extends beyond emergency shelter. We actively partner with families as they transition into safe, affordable housing, offering a foundation where they can continue their journey to independence and security.

In early spring 2024, Angelina and her teenage son, Siras, found refuge at Radiant Futures’ Emergency Shelter, escaping from a trafficker she had once considered a friend. For over a year, she had endured constant physical, emotional, and financial abuse, with no control over her life. When an opportunity arose, she and Siras fled to a friend’s home, where they found Radiant Futures through a quick online search.

At the shelter, Angelina and her Advocate created a plan to help her rebuild and secure a stable home. With limited recent work experience, she needed time to ensure their safety, process their trauma, and develop job skills before stepping into the role of sole provider. So her and Siras enrolled into Hope House, our transitional housing program that provides up to 24 months of housing security. Her greatest hope was for Siras to find joy again, to laugh and celebrate life after all they had endured. Radiant Futures offered them both the support and stability to start anew.

Throughout the year, we’ve created a welcoming environment for families through special events that foster connection and joy. From Valentine’s Day breakfasts to our signature Summer Splash, Back-to-School event, and Holiday Party, these gatherings have created precious memories and a sense of community.

A highlight was our new clothing boutique for the Back-to-School event. Thanks to dedicated volunteers, we transformed our space into a clothing boutique for survivors to select clothes, shoes, and accessories.

Many survivors face overwhelming uncertainty about their legal rights, especially those who are undocumented. Navigating the complex and ever-evolving landscape of laws and policies can feel daunting for anyone, but it’s especially challenging for those emerging from trauma.

Our legal team at Radiant Futures is committed to bridging this gap by meeting with each survivor individually, listening to their unique circumstances, and crafting personalized legal strategies that address their specific needs.

As Angelina and Siras settled into their new life and routine at Radiant Futures, she noticed Siras was often on edge, easily startled. When she’d ask how he was feeling, he’d smile and say, “I’m okay, Mom, really, I’m fine.” But as a mother, Angelina knew better—he wasn’t fine.

One night, she was jolted awake by Siras’s scream. She gently touched him, and he woke up immediately. When she insisted he tell her what was causing him so much fear, he admitted he was terrified her trafficker would find them. The next morning, Angelina scheduled an appointment with a legal advocate to start the process of filing for a restraining order.

Radiant Futures has developed strong partnerships with legal organizations, law enforcement agencies, and social services. These collaborations are essential for creating a cohesive response to family violence and human trafficking within the community.

This October, we proudly celebrated our new Anaheim Campus with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The event included a meaningful panel discussion featuring Congressman Lou Correa, State Senator Tom Umberg, and Anaheim Police Chief Rick Armendariz.

Our new campus represents our deepening roots in the community, offering a dedicated training space to hold educational programs that will help us make an even greater impact.

This year, Radiant Futures offered two 52-hour Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking certification courses. As the only agency in California providing combined training in both areas, these sessions equip participants to understand the unique needs of survivors and to make a lasting impact within their communities.

During Angelina’s appointment with the legal advocate, it was recommended that she and Siras consider participating in some of our educational classes and counseling sessions. The legal advocate explained that being in sessions with others who have had similar experiences might help them process their trauma. While Angelina was uncertain if counseling was the right choice for them, the advocate shared information about our personal empowerment classes, which include specific sessions for adults and teens. After completing our Personal Empowerment Program, Angelina found it so valuable that she encouraged her son to join our Teen PEP program.

Our Teen Personal Empowerment Program introduces teens to healthy relationships and safe spaces for open discussion—empowering them with the tools to build positive connections.

Our Empowered Fatherhood Initiative recently gave fathers and their children a chance to bond at an Angels game. Recognizing fathers' vital role in their children’s growth, we covered all costs, including food and parking, to make this experience accessible.

This event was more than just a game—it was a step toward fostering stronger, healthier relationships that promote positive masculinity and build companionship and support among fathers.

Healing is a journey, not a destination. Survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking often need continued support even after immediate crises subside.

At Radiant Futures, we’re committed to providing long-term healing resources that allow survivors to process their experiences, reclaim their identities, and move forward with confidence. Recognizing that the effects of domestic violence reach all family members, we also meet with survivors’ children as young as 6 years old, offering them tailored support to begin their own healing journey.

Recognizing that every survivor’s path is unique, we’ve expanded our programs to meet these varying needs. This year, our Clinical Team launched Wellness Hours, a flexible mental health support initiative providing survivors with access to weekly wellness topics tailored to their needs, such as setting boundaries, cultivating positive self-talk, identifying triggers, and more.

After both Angelina and Siras had a positive experience with our PEP classes, they decided to give counseling a try. Maybe it wasn’t as impersonal as Angelina had imagined. Angelina attended a no-commitment orientation, where a clinical advocate introduced Radiant Futures' counseling approach and session options, including wellness hours that fit their schedule. Encouraged, Angelina enrolled in counseling and hopes to have Siras join if it goes well.

Wellness Hours provided Angelina with accessible support in a welcoming non-judgmental environment, which promoted a sense of community, personal growth, and emotional resilience.

As we look ahead, we recognize that our journey is far from over.

Many in our community continue to rely on Radiant Futures for safety, healing, and hope. Thanks to partners like you, we are prepared to grow and evolve, expanding services and enhancing our programs to offer the highest level of support.

In 2025, we are committed to advancing our bridge housing program, increasing prevention education, and broadening access to life-changing services.

Each of these steps is essential to building a community free from violence, and each requires the support of compassionate partners who share our vision. These are ambitious goals, and we’re eager to make them a reality!

Will you join us in raising $50,000 by year’s end to ensure we can reach even more survivors, like Angelina and Siras, next year?

We invite you to consider making an end-of-year gift to help us begin 2025 with the resources needed to support even more individuals.

Every donation, no matter the size, is a step toward a world where survivors can thrive. Thank you for believing in this mission and for being part of the change we are creating together. Here’s to a year of hope, growth, and new beginnings for all those we serve.

With appreciation,

Mark Lee
