Greetings!
Many of us are struggling with the ups and downs of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and the ways in which it is disrupting our lives. If you are feeling similar, please know that you are not alone. We encourage everyone to promote facts over fear. Vaccines are broadly available to anyone who wants one.

In addition to our health and wellness partners at Eisenhower Health linked below, you and your loved ones can learn accurate and up-to-date information about vaccination services near you at vaccines.gov. Help is available in English, Spanish and many other languages. We can do this.

THE NATIONAL
LGBTQ+ WOMEN*S
COMMUNITY SURVEY

This study invites people who have identified as women at any point on their journeys and want to share their experiences of centering women in their emotional, familial, sexual, and/or personal lives. At present this study is only open to participants currently living in the USA.

Your responses will be an important contribution to a ground-breaking community report on LGBTQ+ women’s experiences of pursuing housing, employment, health care, public accommodation, and education while building their families and lives. The study is an investigation of discrimination in the lives of LGBTQ+ women and our sources of joy and resilience.

FEEL GOOD STORY
PLAYING A ROUND

Like many things in 2020, the Stonewall Golfers annual Rainbow Challenge did not take place. But stronger and more determined than ever, this community of golfers came together and made 2021 their best year yet! The 20th annual Rainbow Challenge was played at the beautiful Indian Canyons Golf Resort (South & North Course) on May 1st & 2nd, when a total of 83 folks participated in a fun-filled weekend of friendly competition, community, a silent auction, tacos, and various contests and activities to raise essential funds for The Center.

Sponsored by Matrix Insurance & Benefits Solutions, the golf tournament has been the biggest outside fundraiser of The Center for the last 3 years (not counting 2020). Since 2017, the Stonewall Golfers have made the golf tournament a major charity event, and each year their dedication and commitment to the sport and our community shows in their numbers and the impact they continue to have. The Rainbow Challenge is the longest running LGBTQ golf tournament in the world. Anyone is welcome to play, whether a member or not of Stonewall Golfers. In fact, they have over 20 events scheduled for the remaining of the year and anyone can join in, including a Pride Golf Tournament on Sat, Nov 6th, which you can view and register for here.

We are so grateful to all the event organizers, players, sponsors, and volunteers for all of their support. We sure can’t wait to see what the future has in store for this incredible tournament, and we look forward to seeing new and familiar faces. THANK YOU for supporting our mission all these years, and for donating nearly $40,000 to The Center. We are forever grateful.
IN MEMORIAM
Here we honor the memory of folks in our community who have passed.
If you'd like to submit a name for inclusion here, please fill out this form.

Jefferson Hills ( ? - 2021)
Jefferson was a dedicated volunteer at The Community Food Bank at The Center. An Ocotillo Club member with his partner Paul Kowal, the pair stepped up to volunteer at The Food Bank when the pandemic hit. As a Thursday morning volunteer Jefferson was essential to the unloading and prep of food for our evening distribution. His dry humor and wit will be missed by the morning crew. - Charles Huff

Richard Simonelli (1939 - 2021)
It is with a heavy heart that I have to tell you that we lost our dear friend to cancer. We will miss you, Richard. The knitting community from The Center and our world lost a very dear person. A small group of his friends spent time with him over the last few weeks hearing about his life and loves. These stories will keep his memory alive in all our hearts forever. - Douglas Morris

Submissions received by 5PM Friday will be included in the next week's newsletter, for two consecutive weeks.
