Hope and Action for the Earth

Dear General Superiors and General Councils,

Many greetings of peace from Solidarity with South Sudan.

We are deeply grateful for the ongoing support that you give to our intercongregational program that responds to the call of the Bishops of South Sudan, first given in 2006. Healing Ourselves, Healing Our World

Trauma healing is a necessary practice in South Sudan, a country wracked by violence, constant displacement, hunger. Helping people to heal and deal with their inner hurts means giving them back hope, restoring their motivation to move forward and look to the future with a renewed attitude. But it also means giving the country another chance, starting again together despite differences, to build a united and peaceful country. The Pastoral Solidarity team is committed to spreading the practice of trauma healing among all categories of the South Sudanese population: children, youth, people with disabilities, but also teachers and community leaders. Find out the latest trauma healing activities in the project newsletter!

Renovation work at STTC

In recent months, the Solidarity Teacher Training College has been renovating in preparation for its forthcoming reopening. Thanks to our donors Caritas Antoniana, Sudan Relief Fund and others it has been possible to carry out major renovations, including a complete refurbishment of the library floor. See the result in this VIDEO!

In addition, a new building is being constructed that will include the principle's office and two large classrooms that can hold up to 80 students for combined classes.

Meeting with Cardinal Czerny

A meeting of religious was held on 5 February  with Cardinal Czerny, Prefect of the Dicastery on Integral Human Development. Sr Scholasticha from the Solidarity Pastoral Team and Fr Jim Greene represented Solidarity. The importance of education in South Sudan was highlighted by many of the 40 participants.
