Congresswoman Ramirez Joins Tollway and Community Leaders to View Progress On I-490/IL 390 Interchange Project

Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez (IL-03) joined Illinois Tollway Executive Director and Franklin Park Mayor Barrett Pedersen to view Tollway progress on construction of the new I-490/IL 390 Interchange in Bensenville.


The interchange is one of three connections to the future I-490 Tollway under construction to deliver congestion relief and support economic development in the western suburbs along with the creation of direct western access into O’Hare International Airport.

IBTTA National Interoperability Working Group Meets To Advance Seamless Travel for Electronic Tolling 

The Illinois Tollway was host to this summer’s IBTTA National Interoperability working group with more than 100 participants focused on further developing the policies, business rules and technical solutions necessary to achieve seamless travel for all-electronic tolling customers. 


This effort will allow I-PASS users to travel on any toll facility in the U.S. (and eventually Canada and Mexico) and allow customers from other toll service providers to pay for tolls in Illinois.

Executive Director Cassaundra Rouse Selected for 2024 Edgar Fellows Program

Joining statewide policy influencers, Executive Director Cassaundra Rouse participated in the 2024 Edgar Fellows Program in August to identify ways leaders in Illinois can work together to address major challenges facing the state, including climate change, artificial intelligence and workforce development. 


The initiative created by former Governor Jim Edgar annually brings together leaders of diverse backgrounds from different fields – including from government, labor organizations, non-profit groups and the business sector – to build relationships that will help them work toward long-term solutions to critical issues facing Illinois residents.

Illinois Tollway Introduces New Opportunities For Small Businesses Through Its Job Order Contracting (JOC) Program

The Illinois Tollway is creating new opportunities for small businesses to work on Tollway projects through its Job Order Contracting Program – work related to electrical, flooring, HVAC, masonry, plumbing, roofing and other general construction projects at Tollway facilities throughout Northern Illinois. 

 

“The new Small Business Initiative Job Order Contracting for General Construction opens doors for more small companies to gain valuable experience working on Tollway projects,” said Illinois Tollway Acting Chief of Diversity and Strategic Development Marlene Vick. “These opportunities are a crucial step in helping small businesses grow, create jobs and stimulate economic growth in their local communities.”
