New 7-Year, $2 Billion Bridging the Future Capital Plan Approved

The new, $2 billion Bridging the Future capital program outlines a path forward for 2025-2031 and will serve as a bridge between the Move Illinois capital program and the needs of the agency's next long-term capital program.


Approved in December 2024, Bridging the Future will guide planning, design and construction services that will enhance the Illinois Tollway's ongoing investments by modernizing infrastructure to meet future demands and addressing maintenance needs for the five roadways on the Tollway system.

Stakeholder Advisory Team Delivers Final Recommendations to Enhance Technology, Regional Mobility and Access

Wrapping up its work in 2024, the Stakeholder Advisory Team has delivered a report to guide the Tollway as it continues to advance its long-term capital planning efforts.


The group of 40 leaders from non-profit, civic, business, labor, environmental, transportation and advocacy organizations across the Tollway’s 12-county region defined goals and offered input to help prioritize needs and investment opportunities. 


The report outlines a series of eight value statements representing the priorities of the SAT member organizations, along with 12 recommendations for implementing these priorities in the Tollway's next long-term capital program.

Balanced 2025 Budget Prioritizes Infrastructure Investments

A balanced 2025 Budget allocating $1.72 billion in revenue has been approved to fund maintenance and operations, debt service transfers and capital investments for the 294-mile Illinois Tollway system. 


The 2025 Budget also supports $1.15 billion for capital spending, including funding for the 14th year of the agency’s $15 billion Move Illinois capital program and funds to begin the first year of the new $2 billion Bridging the Future capital plan.
