Tom May has been a full-time professional singer/songwriter/recording artist/ radio and event producer and author for 52 years.
Starting his career in the early 70's, and brash enough to move to Toronto, Ontario ( from Nebraska) with almost no funds, a problematic car,
his twelve string Martin (which he still plays) and a passion for the music, he wound up being able to do a number of shows with Gordon Lightfoot - who introduced him to a wide world of possibilities and opportunities. Tom would go on to play hundreds of club dates, concerts, and festivals from Alaska to Florida and overseas.
He has 14 albums out of his original music and has founded and produced many festivals (including Portland's venerable "Winterfolk"- which this year will celebrate 37 years). He also produced the national broadcast of "River City Folk", a syndicated production on NPR that just wrapped up after 40 years this past summer. (but will still be heard in reruns on www.folkmusicnotebook.com )
Tom's songs are compendiums of what folks do for a living, geography and history, with a healthy dose of romance and wine added.
