On Tuesday, Nov. 14, the City of Gainesville’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and the Wild Spaces & Public Places program held an open house to discuss future improvements at Tom Petty Park.

Over two dozen neighbors weathered the rain to view design boards, provide input and to suggest additional improvements to the park.

Proposed improvements include demolition of the racquetball courts, construction of dedicated pickleball courts, renovation and enlargement of the restrooms, addition of spectator bleachers at the tennis courts, and improvement to the multi-use trail to improve ADA accessibility throughout the park.

Drawings of the proposed improvements can be viewed here.

Meeting minutes from the open house can be viewed here.

If you would like to provide feedback on the proposed upgrades or make suggestions, please contact Pete McNiece at McNiecePR@gainesvillefl.gov or 352.393.8544.
