A RETURN TO HYBRID JANUARY 19

Students will be returning to our in-school hybrid schedule beginning Tuesday, January 19th.

As you can imagine, we are really looking forward to having our students back in our schools. While we know remote learning has been necessary during this time, our goal will always be to provide students with as much in-person time with our amazing teachers and staff as possible.

Reminders for the week ahead:

  • Friday, January 15th: No school for students. Teachers report to participate in a Professional Development Day as we prepare for our return to the hybrid schedule on the 19th.
  • Monday, January 18th: No school in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We encourage you to honor his legacy through a day of service.

Once we return to school on January 19th the Valley View Community Learning site will be closed. Any family continuing to need support while their child is enrolled in remote learning will have access to Cuyahoga Heights Village Hall.

As a reminder, all district COVID safety protocols will continue to be in place. Our staff and students will still socially distance, wear masks, wash hands and continue to follow strict sanitation protocols. We are also in the process of adding additional protocols out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, staff and their families. We'll continue to keep you updated as we progress.

CURRENT COVID NUMBERS

The Cuyahoga County Board of Health requires school districts to report and contact trace known positive cases among staff and students even when our schools are engaged in remote learning. 


Reported during the week of January 4:
  • QUARANTINE: Students (0) | Staff (0)
  • POSITIVE TEST: Students (4) | Staff (2)

What you should know right now:
  • Primary contacts through extra-curricular activities do not change under the new guidance shared by the Governor.

  • If you test for COVID-19 you are to be quarantined until you receive results of that test, regardless of how long it takes to receive the results.  

  • Contact us immediately if you test positive or have to quarantine as a primary contact of someone who has tested positive: Please email Tracy Deal at tdeal@cuyhts.org.  
IMPORTANT PLANNING SURVEY COMING NEXT WEEK
Next Tuesday, January 12th, Cuyahoga Heights families will be receiving a survey via email about returning to in-school instruction. We thank you advance for completing the survey as soon as you're able. This information it provides will help us to plan for the successful return of students to our buildings.

Thanks to the guidance department for finding a video to lift our spirits!!! The message reminds us that we are all doing a “good job” -- students, parents, helping family members, and school staff. We are all anxious to return students to our buildings beginning January 19.
VACCINE UPDATE
We are working with the Ohio Department of Health and Cuyahoga County Department of Health to provide vaccinations for COVID to any member of the school staff that would desire to be vaccinated. School staff members fall into the 1B category for vaccinations and based on the Governor’s announcement should be available to educators near February 1.
