What key factors might impact the November elections? Here is a list provided by Quadrant Strategies:
- Turnout is expected to set records as the electorate continues to diversify.
- Abortion rights have motivated Democrats and swung notable elections to date. Ballot initiatives in states may also drive turnout (voting, marijuana, criminal justice).
- Democrats are defending a high number of open seats while Republican candidates are underperforming.
- Democrats have enjoyed a rare financial advantage in several key states.
- President Biden’s approval rating is underwater but improved throughout the summer.
- Many top candidates are running against their party. Democrats are distancing themselves from Biden while Republicans are pivoting from primary positions.
Key issues impacting the elections are:
- National polls tell us Democrat voters focus on the economy, healthcare, and climate issues. GOP voters prioritize inflation, immigration, and safety concerns.
- In Delaware, both political parties have focused on education while Democrats also discuss healthcare, and the GOP prioritizes the economy.
- Online, Delawareans are focused on education, gun control, abortion, and the economy (jobs, inflation, taxes).
