GIVE TODAY

JAZZWORKS 2024

We are delighted to introduce two of our four clinicians for the upcoming Jazzworks Non-Competitive Band Festival in March. We know they will both bring incredible insight and inspiration to participating students and band directors.

DEAN MCNEILL

Trumpeter/composer Dean McNeill is Head of the University of Saskatchewan Department of Music where he teaches jazz and classical performance.  He has shared the concert stage with many notable instrumentalist / bandleaders, including Jon Ballantyne, Tommy Banks, Dee Daniels, Phil Dwyer, Hugh Fraser, Wycliffe Gordon, Ingrid Jensen, Bob Mintzer, and Maria Schneider, to name a few. Both as a performer and a professor, Dean credits much of his success to diligence and strong musical role models.

BIBOYE ONANUGA

Biboye Onanuga is a versatile drummer and imaginative composer based in Edmonton. A recent MacEwan Music graduate, Biboye quickly became a sought-after player and has made his own contributions to the local music scene through series’ such as New Standards - a weekly show+jam centred around improvisation. In 2019, Biboye's dedication to the craft led him to further his studies in Finland, where he spent five transformative months at Metropolia University, delving deeper into the intricacies of jazz drumming and composition.
