TOMORROW! SHARE YOUR RCPL STORY DAY
Tomorrow is our "Share Your RCPL Story" day in recognition of our nomination as one of 15 libraries up for the Institute of Museum and Library Services National Medal. We are celebrating the amazing community partners that make our work so successful, so rewarding, and so enjoyable.  Stories will be posted on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube so be sure to tune in! RCPL LIMITED EDITION
We miss you! Did you hear about RCPL Limited Edition, our reopening beginning May 24? We will be opening all three of our locations for limited in-person browsing and computer use.

All three of our libraries will welcome you back to browse our collections, pick up holds, get new (or renewed) library cards, use computers for one-hour sessions, and a few more express services. Our plans follow San Mateo County’s alignment with California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, and are subject to change based on the County’s COVID-19 guidance. One of our favorite holidays is coming up soon - Star Wars Day on May 4. To celebrate we added a category of Star Wars books and SciFi novels to our webstore. Order while supply last! We have a few SciFi DVDs too. Just let us know what topic you like in the “Send Additional Instructions” when you place your order.

Chinese Calligraphy
Learn about the traditional art of Chinese calligraphy in this hands-on workshop with instructor Jojo Liu on May 1. Material kits available for pick-up for the first 30 registrants during the week of April 26.⁠

Pack your bags, we’re going to Taipei! The Library is pleased to introduce you to bestselling young adult author & speaker Abigail Hing Wen.⁠ Pick up a signed book on May 8 and visit virtually on May 12⁠.

Asian Pacific American History Month
May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and the Library is offering events to highlight the history, heritage, and contributions of Asian Pacific American communities.

MAY 1: Adult Makers: Chinese Calligraphy - Learn about the traditional art of Chinese calligraphy

MAY 8: Art of Tau'olunga: Tongan Performing Arts - A beautiful journey through dance. For Kids and Families.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
WEDNESDAYS, 4pm
Read, discuss, change the world! Our diverse and inclusive book club meets weekly for 6 weeks this spring. Books will be provided FREE along with weekly chats and fun activities!

SABADO/SATURDAY MAY 1, 1pm
Únase a nosotros para una celebración especial al aire libre de la tradición mexicana del Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros en la Biblioteca Central. // Join us for a special outdoor celebration of the Mexican tradition of Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros (Children's and Book Day) at the Downtown Library.

TUE MAY 4, 1pm
Learn about the basics of Social Security and things you should consider before filing.

WED MAY 5, 3pm
In these workshops teens will learn the skills needed to land the summer job they want! Plus on-the-job tips to be successful at work. This event will focus on Test Prep.

THURSDAYS, 4pm
It's game time at the library! We meet online every week to kick back and play all sorts of games. No registration required. No pressure to participate. For teens grades 6-12.

SAT MAY 8, 11am
Join us as our neighbors from the Art of Tau'olunga Group guide us on a beautiful journey through Dance.

LIBRARY SERVICE UPDATE

  • Read more, worry less. We are fine free!
  • All Redwood City Public Library locations are currently closed and will reopen for limited service on May 24, 2021.
  • Downtown Library bookdrops are open to accept returns. Branch Library bookdrops are open on Curbside Service days. Go here for hours.
  • Curbside Service for picking up holds is available at the Downtown Library, Redwood Shores Branch Library and Schaberg Branch Library.
  • Computers by Appointment is available at the Downtown Library on Monday and Wednesday, 2pm-5pm.
  • Our events are online! Check our calendar here.
  • Meeting room reservations are cancelled until further notice.
  • Borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks; use streaming TV, movie, and music services; and access digital subscriptions to newspapers and magazines here.
