Dear PARA Member,
The deadline is tomorrow, October 13, 2017 to register as a NYS voter!

Many of you have asked how you can help get out the vote on General Election Day,
Here’s how:
1.   Make sure you are registered to vote!!!
2.   Make sure your friends and family who live in NYS are registered to vote!

Or, call your county board of elections and ask for the voter registration department.  Here is the link to the NYS county boards of election map – just click on your county for contact details.
If you already have an NYS driver license, permit or non-driver ID, register online here: This online option to register is available until 11:59pm on Friday, October 13, 2017.

This register-to-vote form must be postmarked (which means it has to reach a post office for postmarking) no later than Friday, October 13. Putting it in the mailbox for late-day collection is not a guarantee of a postmark.
The second deadline to note is for absentee voting . Please note that the absentee ballot must be postmarked (see above for what that means) no later than Tuesday, October 31, 2017.

What is PARA?
The Port Authority Retirees Association (PARA), a not-for-profit corporation, was formed in 1989 to promote the welfare of retirees of the Port Authority (and PATH). That is accomplished by Paras acting as spokesperson for Port Authority retirees. We foster and encourage legislation that maintains or improves our circumstances primarily as it affects the pensions of the New York State Retirement System. PARA now has some 4,100 members residing in 39 states and 12 countries. PARA maintains an active affiliation with the Alliance of Public Retiree Organizations (APRO) representing more than 350,000 members throughout New York State.
