Labor Day - Take a Day Off!
Tonight! Wednesday, September 1, 8 PM Eastern
or
Dear Friends,

Labor Day, began in the late 1800s and is credited to P.J. McGuire, president of the American Federation of Labor, the AFL.

While May 1st became International Worker’s Day, US President Grover Cleveland was afraid it would celebrate socialist movements and commemorate the Haymarket Massacre of 1886.

Even in the wake of the Pullman Strike in 1894, Cleveland signed the proclamation for the first Monday in September to be Labor Day.

We’ll sing some songs of work and celebrate workers who keep this country and world going.
Peace,
Jim
