CASEL’s Commitment to SEL as a Lever for Equity
We at CASEL hold fast to the belief that our work must actively contribute to anti-racism and to all forms of prejudice reduction.  We have rededicated ourselves to the work we’ve begun but that is seriously unfinished: diversity, equity, and inclusion at every level of our organization and at every level of our collaborative. Learn more about concrete efforts toward racial equity and collective well-being.  Read the full statement from the CASEL Board of Directors.
State Efforts to Elevate SEL During the Pandemic
CASEL  and Committee for Children released “From Response to Reopening: State Efforts to Elevate Social and Emotional Learning During the Pandemic,” based on a review of state COVID-19 responses related to SEL. New Guide to Building Equitable Learning Environments
The Building Equitable Learning Environments (BELE) Framework  provides resources to create culturally responsive classrooms designed to offer equitable education experiences to all students. The guide includes evidence-based tools to help collectively design and test changes from the school to the state legislature.
Tool: SEL & Equity Pitfalls & Recommendations
As educators, we must strive to advance progress on equity and inclusion in our implementation of SEL. From the National Equity Project, this downloadable chart provides guidance for educators seeking to advance that commitment.
Digital SEL Walkthrough Protocol for Implementation Leaders
CASEL has partnered with Learning Sciences International (LSI) to create a digital version of CASEL’s Schoolwide SEL Walkthrough Protocol as an alternative to our free, print version. The new tool provides a convenient way to observe, measure, and track SEL implementation in schools and classrooms. School-based SEL teams can use data to set implementation goals, reflect on and track progress, and develop or adjust action plans.
