Oscar and Golden Globe nominated, James Baldwin's 'If Beale Street could talk', limited shows from 8th February

Barry Jenkins’ follow-up to Moonlight is a gorgeous and graceful meditation on young love and dignity.Set in 1970s Harlem, the film is a timeless and moving love story of both a couple's unbreakable bond and the African-American family's power, as told through the eyes of 19-year-old Tish who is about to be married. The devoted couple dream of a future together but their plans are derailed when her fiance is arrested for a crime he did not commit. The film honours Baldwin's prescient words and imagery, charting the emotional currents navigated in an unforgiving and racially biased world as the filmmaker poetically crosses time frames to show how love and humanity endure. UK Premiere: Sprinter plus Q&A with AKALA and director Storm Saulter AND free After Party with Usain Bolt 16 February 2pm

Sprinter: Storm Saulter’s award-winning follow-up to his feature debut Better Mus’ Come is a highly personal tale, shot on location in Jamaica. Sprinter tells the story of Akeem Sharp who’s set to be the island’s next big track-and-field sensation. Akeem hopes his rise in athletics will take him to the US to reunite with his mother, who has supported the family while living as an illegal resident for over a decade. But Akeem’s rising star is weighed down by turmoil at home – an unstable father and an unruly older brother. Executive Produced by Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, and supported by Usain Bolt, Sprinter is Jamaica’s energetic, emotional, and endearing return to the world cinema stage.
Film ticket holders are invited to an exclusive After Party at Usain Bolt’s Tracks & Records London.

A few facts about Venezuela not reported by mainstream media

In 2002 the USA sponsored a coup against democratically elected President Hugo Chavez. The coup failed due to popular support.
  • The opposition party refused to participate in recent elections but then declared themselves leaders of the country and were immediately recognised by the USA.
  • In 2018 an drone assassination attempt on President Maduro was traced back to Colombia but the Colombians took no action.
  • Elliot Abrahams, the US Special Envoy to Venezuela was involved in human rights abuses in Nicaragua and convicted in the Iran-Contra affair.
  • Venezuela is undergoing illegal and unilateral sanctions by the US government which means they cannot access their own money in United states accounts.
  • The Bank of England has refused President Maduro access to 1.5 billion dollars of Venezuela's own money in the bank.
The lack of cash has led to major shortages and economic problems. See videos above and below for more information .
