Top 10 Things to Do in Lakeside before Labor Day!
Summer is almost over, but there's still plenty of fun to be had at Lakeside! If you haven't had the chance to visit yet, make time for one more summer adventure. From now until Labor Day, here are the 'Top 10 Things to Do at Lakeside!'
1. Concerts in Hoover Auditorium (Aug. 21-Sept. 1)
You can still purchase tickets for some of the biggest concerts of the summer - McGuffey Lane on Aug. 24; the Stray Cats' Slim Jim Phantom on Aug. 25 and Jay White "America's Diamond," followed by a fireworks show, on Sept. 1.
2. Swimming, Splashing & Sliding (Daily)
Either at our dock, the beach area or in our new 6,000 sq ft pool at the Grindley Aquatic & Wellness Campus, there's plenty of time left to make a splash, race down the waterslide or simply relax and soak up the sun.
3. Health & Wellness (Daily)
Take a stroll along Ohio's Most Beautiful Mile and in Chautauqua Park, challenge yourself with the exercise machines in the Magruder Hospital Fitness Room, join a yoga class, or attend our last Wellness Seminar on Aug. 22, which will cover organic foods.
4. Foreign Film Festival (Aug. 27-30)
Our hallmark Chautauqua Lecture Series will delve into the rich and cultural experience of foreign cinema. Join for an introductory talk on how a foreign film can provide a unique cultural experience, followed by a screening of three films.
5. Shop, Dine & Stroll (Daily)
With charming boutiques, unique restaurants and homemade treats, our business district is the perfect place for an easy stroll with friends. Visit on Tuesday and Friday mornings (until Aug 31.) to also shop our Farmers' Market where organic produce, honey, baked goods, flowers, coffee and more will be available.
6. Antique Show (Aug. 25)
Browse our Antique Show for a unique piece of porch furniture, a quirky picture frame or a piece of statement jewelry you didn't know you needed. Items may include china, furniture, quilts, jewelry, sports memorabilia, books, postcards, linens, clothing, dolls, sterling and more.
7. Lakeside Draw Doubles Shuffleboard Tournament (Aug. 23)
No visit to Lakeside is complete without a game of shuffleboard - whether you're a beginner and want to take advantage of the free lessons every Tuesday morning, or you want to get competitive with our last tournament of the year on Aug. 23.
8. Long Weekend at Hotel Lakeside or Fountain Inn
Rooms are still available through Labor Day weekend and even afterwards! Book a spontaneous stay with a waterfront view at the Hotel Lakeside, or enjoy some quiet time in the year-round, family-friendly Fountain Inn
9. Reduced Rate Admission (Aug. 26-Sept. 3)
For the last week of the summer, take advantage of our reduced rate admission. While an adult would normally pay $23.50 for a Daily Chautauqua Pass, guests can now enter the grounds for just $15.25. A youth pass will drop to $9.50 (ages 13-24), and as always, kids age 12 & under and guests age 90 & older are always free! Parking is an additional fee.
10. Reconnect with Your Favorite People
There's one Lakeside activity that's available year-round, and will never go out of style - slowing down to reconnect. Turn off the phones, put away the Kindle and remember what quality family time feels like. Whether you rent a cottage for a week and enjoy a board game marathon on the front porch, or visit for a few hours to sit and read near the water - we think Lakeside can give you what you're looking for.
