High Performing ESC Graphics & Resources
Congratulations on earning high-performing ESC status and for your ongoing work in support of students and schools. In FY2023, all Ohio ESCs were deemed to be high performing by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.

For FY2023 (reported this year), ESCs reported providing $224,153,574 in 5 service areas at a cost to districts of $133,390,305. This was a total cost savings of $90,763,269 or 40% as compared to the cost of districts providing those services themselves or contracting out through a comparable third party.

As has been the case in the past, OESCA will conduct a more thorough analysis on the ESC return on investment (ROI) for FY2023 using final revenue and expenditure data. We will use that information to provide updated communication and marketing materials for your use.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[ADD ESC NAME] HAS RECEIVED HIGH PERFORMING ESC DESIGNATION FROM DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

November 1, 2023 – [ESC name] applied for and has received the High Performing ESC designation from the Ohio Department of Education. A High Performing Educational Service Center (ESC) has generated total cost savings of at least 5% for its client school districts for primary services secured from the ESC instead of another source. [ESC name] far exceeded this 5% benchmark, with a total savings of [percentage] in 2023.

“Ohio’s educational service centers provide exceptional cost savings to their school districts in addition to all of the other services and support they offer,” says Craig Burford, Executive Director of the Ohio ESC Association (OESCA). “Over the past seven years, Ohio ESCs have averaged 36% savings to districts per year, for a total of nearly $587.6 million in savings statewide for primary services since 2016.”

The Ohio Department of Education evaluated each application based on the total percentage of cost savings the ESC generated for its client districts calculated based on the price charged to the client by the ESC for a primary service.
