After undergoing an extensive review process, Forest Elementary School, Longacre Elementary School, and Farmington High School have been approved for funding from the Michigan Educator Workforce Initiative (MEWI) grants to support launching team-based teaching models this fall in partnership with Arizona State University's Next Education Workforce. Next Education Workforce strategic school staffing models empower educators to work in teams to deliver better outcomes and experiences.
Team-based teaching is a transformative approach that brings together groups of educators to share responsibility for the success of a common roster of students. This model enhances student learning by providing more personalized instruction, deeper relationships, and access to educators with varied expertise. For teachers, it promotes collaboration, professional growth, and shared leadership, which strengthens teacher practice and builds stronger school communities.
“This grant supports our District’s continued commitment to innovation and equity in education," stated Rhonda Henry, Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Strategic Initiatives. "Through team-based staffing models, we’re ensuring that every student has access to high-quality, personalized instruction, while providing our teachers with more opportunities to collaborate and enhance their practice.”
