Two FHS students receive recognition from Subway

This exciting event happened right before break, so we wanted to share again in case you missed it! Not one, but TWO FHS marketing students earned the attention of one of the world’s largest restaurant chains, Subway!

Vithesh Balla, senior, and Ethan Croll, junior, selected Subway as the subject of their marketing projects. Part of the project included designing holiday sweaters and attempting to reach the highest level person they could within that company. The students pitched their designs to two Subway C-suite executives. Subway was impressed with the students’ pitches and quickly jumped into action. The brand turned the colored pencil designs into real holiday sweaters and surprised them at the school on December 19. Subway then provided lunch for the entire FHS building.

Several areas of the FPS Profile of a Lifelong Learner are highlighted in this project such as Strategic Communicator and Resilient Problem-Solver.

Way to go, Vithesh and Ethan, and thank you Subway! Vithesh and Ethan are shown here with their marketing teacher Nina Merget.

FAAPN Super Saturdays Tutoring starts back up for the new year!

This past weekend the Farmington African American Parent Network (FAAPN) started up their Super Saturdays Free Tutoring for FPS students. Thank you, FAAPN, for all that you do for FPS students!

The Farmington Public Schools’ (FPS) Board of Education is hosting a Community Dialogue with the topic of STEAM Opportunities at FPS. The Dialogue will be held Tuesday, February 4, at 6:30 p.m.

From the recent Cobalt Community Survey, parents and community members were interested in more STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) or STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) opportunities for students.

This important dialogue is a great opportunity to interact and to get to know your school board members and engage in a discussion about STEAM opportunities.

The event will be held at the Maxfield Education Center located at 32789 W. Ten Mile Road in Farmington. Attendees are asked to park in the South parking lot. Light refreshments will be served.
