One School, One Book still going strong across the District

To go along with the One School, One Book (OSOB) dog theme, Kenbrook Elementary School has been busy with activities related to the book, Dogtown. They had a speaker come in from the animal shelter who brought a furry friend and they raised money for Almost Home Animal Rescue. We love to see the engagement of students and staff across the District with our OSOB theme! What a great way to spend March as it is Reading Month!!


Farmington Public Schools is moving to Lakes Valley Conference for athletics & student leadership

Farmington Public Schools will be moving from the Oakland Activities Association (OAA) to the Lakes Valley Conference (LVC) in the coming years. This transition will take place in two phases: middle schools will join the LVC in the 2025-2026 school year, followed by our high schools in the 2026-2027 school year.


"We are eager to create new relationships, strengthen our programs, and continue fostering a culture of excellence both in athletics and student leadership," stated the District's Director of Athletics and School Safety Allyson Robinson.

Lea VanAmberg, Special Education Transition Consultant, receives Educational Service award from The Arc of Oakland County

The District’s Special Education Transition Consultant, Lea VanAmberg, was recently selected to receive the Educational Service Award from The Arc of Oakland County. The 54th Annual Dove Awards and Online Auction took place on March 13, 2025.


Lea was honored with the Educational Service Award. This award is given to specialized instructional support staff who advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in schools.


“She is a wealth of knowledge and truly passionate about helping each young adult with an IEP in our district find success in their adult lives," stated Dr. Lydia Moore, executive director of special education. She consistently promotes the Profile of a Lifelong Learner, particularly focusing on positioning students to be ‘Self Actualizers.’"

Harrison High School grad, State Rep. Sam Steckloff, spoke to NFHS students

State Representative Sam Steckloff recently visited North Farmington High School to present to their social studies classes on what it means to be a State Representative. She then opened it up to a questions and answers session with the students.
