Happy Volunteer Appreciation Week

We might be biased, but at Five Acres Animal Shelter we think we have the best volunteers around! We are proud to have over 150 active volunteers who work hard every day to help us fulfill our mission. Every day volunteers give up their time to walk dogs, do laundry, scoop litter, clean up, answer phones, sort donations, work the AniMeals Food Pantry, help with events, and SO much more! We truly could not do what we do without them, and are continuously grateful for their efforts, passion, and dedication.

Pet Supply Parking Lot Sale

Join us in the Five Acres parking lot on Saturday, May 4th for all your pet supply needs! From 8:00 - 12:00 you'll find new and gently used pet supplies at drastically discounted rates, including leashes, collars, crates, toys, treats, pet apparel, grooming supplies, beds, and so much more. All the proceeds go right back to the cats and dogs at Five Acres. We hope to see you there!

Can't be there on May 4th? Not to worry! Many of these items are available in our pet supply shop in our Canine Clubhouse lobby. This is open during our regular business hours: Tuesday - Friday from 2:00 - 6:00, and Saturday & Sunday from 12:00 - 6:00.

Kahan on KMOV!

Kahan smiled for the camera as he was featured as KMOV's "Pet of the Week" this week! Kahan is about 18 months old and is a shelter favorite at Five Acres. His goofy smile and wiggly demeanor are infectious and loves everyone he meets! Kahan can get along with dogs who are similar in size to him or smaller, and would do fine with children who understand he's a pretty strong boy.

Join Our Dog Foster Squad!

Have you ever considered becoming a foster home for a shelter dog, but not sure what to expect? Join us on Wednesday, May 22nd for a Foster Info Session to learn more about what it means to welcome in a shelter dog as a foster family.

Fostering an animal truly saves lives. Not only does it allow a shelter dog to await adoption from the comfort of a home rather than the chaos of the shelter, but it frees up a kennel space for another dog in need.

5th Annual Putts for Paws

The 5th annual Putts for Paws Golf Tournament is in the books! 112 golfers joined us at Whitmoor Country Club on Tuesday for a fun day of golf and supporting the dogs and cats at Five Acres. Golfers enjoyed a mostly-dry day of golf and got to meet several adoptable dogs along the way.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in the event, bid, bought raffle tickets, and donated. Every dollar raised on Tuesday will go directly to support over 1,600 cats and dogs who will walk through our doors this year. We hope to see you next year!
