The National Book Awards, announced on November 19, 2025, are among the most prestigious literary prizes in the United States.


Established in 1950, their inception was driven by a desire to celebrate and promote the best of American literature, recognizing outstanding works in the fields of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and young people's literature.


Over the decades, the awards have honored a diverse array of authors, from established literary giants to emerging voices, who have contributed significantly to the cultural and intellectual fabric of society; such as previous winners William Faulkner, Flannery O'Connor, and Toni Morrison.
