Ann Underhill Co-Founder of Underhill Associates in 1971 and beloved family matriarch passed away on March 13th, 2020. Her work ethic and many accomplishments to better our community will continue to provide inspiration.
She will be greatly missed.
Colonial Gardens continues to be an exciting place to hang out. Taco Luchador and Union15 provided their customers with curbside delivery during these unprecedented times. Now that restaurants are starting to open their dining, both Taco Luchador and Union15 have taken advantage of alfresco dining with the amazing patio area.  

Everyone had a great time on the first Saturday in May dressing Elvis up in their favorite Derby hats for a chance to win a gift certificate, do not worry he made sure to wear his mask too. 

We were honored to have Professor John Gilderbloom of UofL introduce Urban Studies students to Colonial Gardens.

"People have really rallied around restaurants," he said. "We have had to reinvent what we're doing multiple times to try and meet the demand of what's out there. It gives me hope on the other side of this, we'll be better prepared and better restaurateurs for having gone through this." Though the restaurants received a typical hit in sales, box lunch orders and takeout has helped keep them going, Blackburn said. People have enjoyed the covered outdoor dining so much he's thinking of adding coverings permanently, and carryout sales are still strong. Guests are understanding and following the social distancing rules, he said, and Jeff Underhill, Colonial Gardens' landlord, has been extremely understanding and "more of a partner in the business than a landlord."

GML residents light up green to show compassion and support for COVID-19 victims and our many residents who work in healthcare.

The GML office staff were very creative in finding a way to show resident appreciation during the stay at home time. Instead of Donuts from Nord’s Bakery we did individually wrapped cookies. Helping anyway we could to support local small business and giving all the residents a little smile in a delicious way. 

Thank you to Rosa with Intec in taking extra care in keeping our common areas clean. You always do a fabulous job with a smile.

Highlands Community ministries’ board members and Bellarmine Staff have come to the rescue with donations of food, supplies and treat bags for the residents. We also distributed to those interested crossword books, seek and finds, and puzzles. All of which have brightened their spirits.

Lysa is working on a building Scavenger Hunt and a “Healthy You” bulletin board which includes recipes. We are excited to see everyone healthy at home.

THE MILLER BROTHERS
Greg Miller has been with Underhill Associates since 1981. He has such a vast wide array of knowledge about everything related to construction, maintenance and project development that he has become someone that everyone in the company depends on. His brothers have joined him on many projects and together they are a wealth of knowledge and there isn’t anything they can’t do.

Community Efforts
Underhill Associates is committed to the restoration and preservation of Louisville's historic buildings. We were recently honored with a History Award from Louisville Historical League for our efforts restoring Colonial Gardens. Special thank you to the League and our partners; Todd Underhill, architect Jeff Rawlins, general contractor Leo Post, and participation by the City of Louisville.
We are currently working to save the former UofL Dental School located at 129 East Broadway.
See our proposal for the Paristown Green project to restore the old Kentucky Baptist Hospital and create a space that gives back to the surrounding community.
New and Noteworthy
Underhill Associates Corporate Office has a new home. The freestanding building next to Couvillion became the perfect space for us to move to. Everyone loves the history that has been preserved in the space and it is a perfect example of what Underhill Associates is all about, preservation and restoration.
