CITY OF FORT WRIGHT
2025 ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
As standard policy and procedure related to all road replacement or resurfacing projects, the City of Fort Wright collaborates and coordinates with all local utility companies on all upcoming and future road re-construction projects. This provides an opportunity for us to partner with the various Utility Companies who then evaluate their infrastructure in these areas so that they can perform any necessary repairs and/or upgrades to their infrastructure prior to the roadway's completion. This process yields a long term cost savings to our tax payers. As a result of this effort, the Northern Kentucky Water District (NKWD) is replacing the water mains on General Drive and Pickett Drive in advance of the start of our 2025 Street Resurfacing Project. Earlier this year Duke Energy also replaced several gas services in the area as well.
Rector Excavating was awarded the bid by NKWD and has already replaced the main on General Drive with all existing services tied back in as well. Rector is currently working on replacing the main on Pickett Drive and anticipates having this work completed by the end of June. The new water main will ultimately be tied in, and final service connections will be made. This work can take some time given the amount of rock in the area. Rector anticipates completion of the project by mid-July, well ahead of their allowed completion window.
In February 2025, the City of Fort Wright awarded the bid for road resurfacing to Riegler Blacktop, and General Drive, Pickett Drive, Pickett Court, and George Huser Drive will be milled and repaved this year.
The contract price for the 2025 project is $649,342.25. This cost includes milling and paving, as well as, all necessary concrete repairs. Riegler Blacktop will begin replacing areas of concrete sidewalk and spot curb repairs in August of this year Once the concrete repairs are completed each roadway will be milled before the final surface is installed.
We anticipate milling and paving to take place in September. As with any construction project, the timeline is subject to change due to weather and/or material availability which from time to time impedes progress.
Please remember to exercise caution when driving, walking, and/or bicycling in all construction zones for the safety of our staff, our contractors, and the protection of your own life and property.
