Looking for the perfect place to host your next gathering? The South Hills Civic Center, located at 10 Bluegrass Avenue, is a beautiful, facility available for rent for small gatherings and special occasions.

Since its opening, the Civic Center has been the setting for graduation parties, weddings, baby showers, First Communion celebrations, birthday parties, holiday gatherings, business functions, and many other memorable events. Nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood, the facility is ideal for intimate gatherings of up to 80 guests and is available for rent by both Fort Wright residents and non-residents.

The facility features a spacious gathering room with 10 tables and 80 chairs, a fully equipped kitchenette with a refrigerator/freezer, warming oven, microwave, sink, stainless steel worktables, and additional beverage refrigerators. The building is fully accessible, smoke-free, and reservations may be made up to one year in advance.

Fort Wright residents enjoy discounted rental rates, making the Civic Center an affordable venue for family celebrations and community events. Rental rates include Kentucky sales tax and require a refundable security deposit. Reservations are confirmed only after the completed application, rental fee, and deposit have been received—date holds are no longer accepted.

To help ensure the facility remains in excellent condition for all users, renters are responsible for basic clean-up following their event. Security deposits are refunded after a satisfactory inspection and the return of the facility key.

The City of Fort Wright and Hoxworth Blood Center have partnered up to conduct an essential blood drive.

On Friday, September 4th, 2026 you can visit us to donate blood between the hours of 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. The Hoxworth Blood Mobile will be located in our parking lot at 409 Kyles Lane, Fort Wright, KY 41011.

Donation Requirements - You must meet all of the following criteria in order to donate:

1.  Be at least 17 years old (16-year-olds may donate with parental consent*).

2.  Females under the age of 19 may donate once in a 12-month period.

3.  Males under the age of 19 may donate twice in a 12-month period.

4.  Weigh at least 110 lbs. (body weight) --*16 - 18 year olds please see weight requirement chart in the High School brochure on our site.

5.  Generally feel well and healthy.

6.  Have no fever, sore throat or flu-like symptom.

7.  Have no active cold symptoms.

8.  Have not had major surgery recently (released from doctor's care).

9.  Requirements for automated red cell donors:

10. Men must be at least 5 feet 1 inch tall and weigh at least 130 pounds.

11. Women must be at least 5 feet 3 inches tall and weigh at least 150 pounds.

12. Males under the age of 19 may donate red cells once in a 12-month period.

13. Females under the age of 19 are not eligible to donate red cells.

14. The donor beds at our Neighborhood Donor Center can accommodate up to 350 lbs. (each center has one bed that can accommodate up to 650 lbs.). The Mobile Bus can accommodate up to 350 lbs. and the donor beds used at our set ups at businesses and schools can accommodate up to 500 lbs.

Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati was founded in 1938 and proudly serves 31 hospitals in 17 counties in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. Annually, Hoxworth collects over 90,000 units of blood from local donors to help save the lives of patients in our area hospitals. At least 400 products are essential each day to keep up with the demands of the tri-state hospitals and their patients.

You can also visit your bank’s physical location to speak with someone in person.

Remember: Don’t trust—verify. Taking a few extra minutes to confirm who you are communicating with could help protect your finances and personal information from scammers.

A Friendly Reminder Regarding

Trash Container Placement

The City of Fort Wright would like to offer a friendly reminder to residents about when municipal solid waste and recycling containers may be placed in the front of your home.

To help keep our neighborhoods looking neat and well-maintained, trash containers should only be placed in the front yard during the designated collection period.

Containers may be placed at the property beginning at 6:00 p.m. on the evening before your scheduled collection day and must be removed by 6:00 a.m. the following day.

We understand that busy schedules can sometimes make it easy to forget, so this is simply a friendly reminder to help everyone do their part in keeping Fort Wright a clean and attractive community.

Fort Wright Community Bench Program

Buy a Commemorative Bench - Limited Opportunity

A commemorative bench is the perfect way to beautify and functionally accent our community while providing a special place of acknowledgement for a loved one, or group. Inscribe one of our commemorative benches with a message of kindness, love, recognition, or hope providing a lasting tribute to the special people in your life.

Bench Type: 6ft – Black and Cedar Colored Two-Toned Bench with smoothly contoured seat and backrest. The UV and Moisture resistant bench slats are cedar colored and fabricated of high grade recycled plastic, and they feature a powder coated cast aluminum black frame.

Bench Message: Benches will feature a personalized cast bronze plaque that is durable coated to protect from weather exposure and are 8”w x 2”h that is size restricted by the manufacturer. The message that is placed on the plaque must not include constitutionally prohibited speech, including without limitation “fighting words”, defamatory statements, obscenity, or message that constitute a “clear and present danger”. Plaques may include the name of the individual to be celebrated/memorialized, as well as, dates and a saying or poem.

Installation: Bench orders will be placed in bulk to meet minimum purchasing requirements. Delivery will be based upon manufacturer production and shipping times with installation provided by our Public Works Department upon receipt of product.

Bench Life Span: The bench and plaque will remain the property of the City of Fort Wright at all times. The City will maintain the bench and plaque in proper working order for a period of 10 years. At the end of the 10 year period the City will at its own discretion remove and/or replace the bench and/or plaque.

Bench Purchase Price: $2,500.00; includes concrete base, bench, plaque, 10 year maintenance, delivery, and installation.

Be Ready Before Disaster Strikes: Building Your Emergency Supply Kit

When an emergency or disaster occurs, you may need to be prepared to care for yourself and your household for several days. Severe weather, power outages, flooding, fires, or other emergencies can disrupt access to food, water, medications, transportation, and other essential services.

One of the simplest ways to prepare is to build an emergency supply kit before you need it. Store your supplies in airtight plastic bags and keep the entire kit in one or two easy-to-carry containers, such as plastic storage bins, backpacks, or duffel bags. Choose a location where everyone in your household can easily find the kit.

Basic Emergency Supplies

Your emergency kit should contain enough supplies to meet your household's needs for several days, we recommend a minimum of 72 hours. Consider including:

• Water: At least one gallon per person, per day for drinking and sanitation.
• Food: Several days' supply of nonperishable foods that require little or no preparation.
• Battery-powered or hand-crank radio: Consider including a NOAA Weather Radio with tone alerts.
• Flashlight: Include extra batteries.
• First-aid kit: Stock basic first-aid supplies and any items your household regularly uses.
• Whistle: A whistle can help signal for assistance if you become trapped or need to attract attention.
• Dust masks: These can help filter contaminated or dusty air.
• Plastic sheeting, scissors, and duct tape: Useful for sheltering in place.
• Sanitation supplies: Include moist towelettes, garbage bags, plastic ties, hand sanitizer, and disinfecting wipes.
• Basic tools: A wrench or pliers may be needed to turn off utilities if instructed to do so.
• Manual can opener: Essential if your emergency food supply includes canned goods.
• Local maps: Don't rely solely on your cell phone or GPS during an emergency.
• Cell phone chargers and backup batteries: Keep your devices powered so you can receive emergency information and communicate with others.

Don't Forget Your Household's Unique Needs

Every household is different. Take time to consider the specific needs of your family members, including children, older adults, individuals with disabilities or accessibility needs, and pets.

Additional supplies may include:

• Prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and other necessary medical supplies
• Prescription eyeglasses and contact lens supplies
• Infant formula, bottles, diapers, wipes, and other baby supplies
• Pet food, water, medications, and other pet supplies
• Soap, hand sanitizer, and personal hygiene items
• Feminine hygiene products
• Cash, preferably in small denominations
• Copies of important documents, including identification, insurance information, and financial records
• A waterproof container or secure electronic backup for important documents
• Sleeping bags or warm blankets
• A complete change of clothing and sturdy shoes
• A fire extinguisher
• Matches stored in a waterproof container
• Paper, pencils, books, games, puzzles, or other activities for children
• Disposable plates, cups, utensils, and paper towels

Keep Your Emergency Kit Ready

Building a kit is only the first step. Check and maintain your supplies regularly to make sure everything is ready when you need it.

At least once a year:

• Check expiration dates and replace expired food, medications, batteries, and other supplies.
• Store canned and packaged foods in a cool, dry location.
• Keep boxed foods in tightly closed plastic or metal containers.
• Check clothing and footwear to make sure they still fit household members and are appropriate for the season.
• Review your family's needs and update your kit as circumstances change.
• Make sure everyone in your household knows where the emergency kit is stored.

Prepare Today

An emergency is not the time to discover that your flashlight has dead batteries or that you don't have enough water or medication. Taking a little time now to prepare can make a significant difference when an emergency occurs.
