Wine imports China rose 17% in 2016

Hot off the press, wine imports in China rise about 17% in 2016 over the previous year (bulk wine not included). EU accounts for about 60% of imports. Coming from a larger base, with the consumers in search of more affordable wines, France growth slows down but still in two digits.

Italy put the pedal to the metal and had a fantastic 2016, shipping more value wines than ever, doubling the value versus the volume. Five countries account for 90% of imports. Bulgaria exports of wine to China four-fold that of 2015.
