TORCH RUN NEWSLETTER - MAY 2020
A Message From The Director
Sgt. Mark McGugan
Application Process Now Open:
Operations Committee Positions (3)
On behalf of the OACP Torch Run Executive Committee:

Applications for the Operations Committee (3 positions) are now open! The application form for these positions can be found below:

Application Deadline: Friday, June 5th, 2020 at 5:00pm
Start Date: Monday, June 22nd, 2020

We would like to thank Sergeant Julie Tilbury from the Thunder Bay Police Service and Bill Dickson from the O.P.P for their many years of service on this committee. Their two positions will be available.

Also, our thanks to Retired Staff Sergeant Kevin MacBean from the Peel Regional Police who will also be leaving the committee and his role as Past Director. Sergeant Mark McGugan will move into the Past Director spot when our new Director, Karen Richards takes over on June 22nd. Karen’s former position on the committee will also be available.

Applications will be accepted from members across the province but to ensure this committee remains representative of the entire province, priority will be given to those individuals filling the vacancies from the North, the East and Central Region.

Another change that was adopted at the provincial conference in Kingston, members will be asked to serve as either a member of the Operations Committee OR a Zone Coordinator. Current Zone Coordinators are invited to apply for the Operations Committee.

Once the new Operations Committee members are selected, applications for Zone Coordinators will then open.
We Need Your Feedback!
We are currently in the process of reviewing our OLETR Awards and Recognition structure and would like your help.

Let’s stay active together! Join Special Olympics athletes in a virtual walk around the world.

In this time of physical distancing athletes, volunteers and supporters across Canada have come together to walk over 15,000 km in the Coast to Coast Canada Walking Challenge. It was an incredible accomplishment, and they are ready to keep going!

Special Olympics athletes are challenging you to join them on a new journey as they challenge volunteers, supporters, and fans to join in Walk The World With Me Challenge.
Participants can sign up online, join as an individual or team, and input daily walking entries that are used to track how far we have walked collectively.

Post a photo of yourself walking, and share the photo on your social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram) letting us know you’ve joined Walk The World With Me. #WalkTheWorldSO
