Reflection is so perfect, it makes you wonder if you're in California or the Uyuni Salt Flats! Watching these little ones run across the wet sand felt like watching them play in the sky. It’s days like this, when the beach turns into a giant mirror, that makes me realize we have our own slice of paradise right here in the South Bay. Who needs a plane ticket when you have this view?

WHAT'S NEW

LA County Emergency Rent Relief Program Applications Open on February 9

Renters and landlords across the County, including Torrance residents, can apply for the LA County Emergency Rent Relief Program. Tenants can apply directly and landlords can continue submitting applications as before.


The program offers emergency financial assistance to those who've faced emergency-related financial hardship. Eligible applicants may receive a maximum of $15,000 per unit for up to 6 months of rental or mortgage relief.


Applications open on Monday, February 9 at 9 a.m. and will close by Wednesday, March 11, 4:59 p.m.

Del Amo Blvd. and Madrona Ave. Lane Closures

Construction work on Del Amo Blvd. and Madrona Ave. that was previously scheduled for this weekend has been postponed. Lane closures on Del Amo Blvd. will instead take place next weekend, beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, through 6 a.m. on Monday, February 16. Torrance Fire Department’s New Vehicles

Check out Torrance Fire Department’s new vehicles! The two new Rescue Ambulances are among the most advanced outside a hospital, equipped to deliver medications and advanced therapies to patients.


The new Fire Investigation Vehicle also features a deployable drone with thermal imaging, helping firefighters identify hotspots and focus on critical areas during active investigations.


These upgrades help keep both our community and our first responders safe.

Housing Rights Center Fair Housing Workshop Landlords

We’re partnering with the Housing Rights Center to host a free fair housing workshop for Torrance landlords on Tuesday, February 17, from 6 - 7:30 p.m.


During this workshop, attendees will learn about:


  • Fair housing laws, including disability accommodations, protections for voucher holders, and families with children
  • The California Tenant Protection Act (rent increases and evictions)
  • Eviction resources, updates on new housing laws, and more

Ready to boost your steps and take control of your reading goals? Join us for a low-key 40-minute walk around the circular path in Victor Park while listening to any audiobook of your choice. After the walk, we will sit in the park and have a small book discussion. Don't forget your headphones and a blanket or chair!


The club will meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month beginning in February through May:
