LOS ANGELES COUNTY EXTENDS 
SAFER AT HOME ORDER
On Friday, April 10, Los Angeles county extended the Safer at Home Order which enforces the temporary prohibition of all events and public gatherings and closures on non-essential businesses and areas  through May 15, 2020.

TORRANCE CITY COUNCIL VACANCY

Apply to become a Torrance City Councilmember for the term starting from appointment on May 12, 2020 through March 1, 2022. Applicants must be 18 years of age, residents of the City of Torrance, and registered voters within the City of Torrance.

TORRANCE AIR

The Torrance Air Quality Monitoring and Notification project, sponsored by South Coast AQMD, is designed to show current ("near-real time") air quality measurements for Torrance on this website, and improve the public's understanding of air quality in the Torrance area. 


Due to concerns over the levels of benzene seen on www.TorranceAir.Org in the community, the Torrance Fire Department issued a press release, and requested a review and investigation by the SCAQMD. Please go to www.AQMD.Gov/TorranceAir for a detailed report.

Questions regarding the monitors, the data collected from the monitors, or information viewed on the website, including changes in air quality, should be directed to the AQMD by contacting, Advance Monitoring Technologies Manager, Dr. Andrea Polidori at APolidori@AQMD.Gov.

The City of Torrance is providing free, in home, COVID-19 testing to seniors (65 years of age and older) who are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, have underlying chronic health problems and limited access to transportation. Essentials Delivered by the City to At-Risk Torrance Residents
The City of Torrance has launched a program to help deliver grocery items to seniors (60 years of age and older), those with disabilities, and with underlying health conditions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Torrance Residents who qualify for this program can order once per week while supplies last. These packages will be delivered by City Staff. Packages are $55. TORRANCE PUBLIC LIBRARY CLOSES BOOK DROPS
As part of the City of Torrance's continuing efforts to address the rapidly evolving conditions of COVID-19, the Torrance Public Library will close book drops at all library locations on April 10, 2020, until further notice.  Library patrons are encouraged to enjoy the materials they have in their possession while the Safer at Home order is in place and to explore the resources featured on the library's website The Library staff are available to answer any questions through the telephone reference line 310-781-7599, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., or via email at LibraryReference@TorranceCA.Gov.  The Torrance Public Library would like to remind its patrons that there are no library fines during this time, and all hold requests continue to remain on reserve.
TORRANCE TRANSIT IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDING FARE COLLECTION FOR RIDERS
To help prevent or slow the spread of COVID-19 and to protect bus operators and passengers, Torrance Transit will implement a rear-door boarding policy. This will help to minimize the interaction between the driver and the passengers. We are asking all customers to board and exit using only the rear door of the bus effective Tuesday, March 24, 2020 until further notice. Only passengers boarding with wheelchairs or who will need to use the ramp will be able to use the front door. In addition, all rides will be free during this time.
