The Torrance Police Department is aware of recent federal immigration enforcement actions in our city and throughout Los Angeles County. Consistent with California Senate Bill 54 and the principles laid out in the California Values Act, the Torrance Police Department does not participate in civil immigration enforcement and our officers do not engage in federal immigration operations. TPD also does not inquire about immigration status during calls for service, and do not assist federal agencies in civil immigration actions.
We want to assure the community that accessing Torrance Police Department services is not dependent on citizenship or immigration status. Our services are available to all who need assistance, and we are dedicated to making sure everyone feels safe and treated with respect when they interact with our officers.
Our mission remains focused on ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our city.

| | | | Columbia Park Soccer Fields Turf Maintenance | The Columbia Park Soccer Fields are closed until approximately August 15 for annual turf maintenance. Each year, the fields are temporarily closed to allow the turf to rest and undergo essential maintenance, including aeration, seeding, fertilization, and topdressing. This annual process is necessary to ensure a safe and playable surface for both organized sports and recreational use. The closure is essential at Columbia Park, where the use of reclaimed water for irrigation presents unique challenges to maintaining healthy, consistent natural turf. | | | | We Are Torrance... And We Are Hiring! | |

| | Contamination Minimization Route Reviews to begin in July 2025 | | |
In accordance with SB 1383 regulations, the City and its contractors will conduct random visual audits of curbside refuse, recycling, and organics carts. These audits will allow us to provide real-time, actionable feedback through cart tags on audited carts. Importantly, these inspections are purely educational, and NO enforcement actions will be taken.
The insights gained from these route reviews will assist us in developing educational outreach material aimed at improving proper recycling practices. The contractors will only inspect carts placed at the curbside for collection and will not enter private property. Materials will NEVER be removed from the carts during visual inspection. The contractors will be working in groups or pairs, wearing high-visibility vests and identification badges. If you see team members on your street, feel free to approach them with your recycling questions or simply say hello! Not sure what goes where? Visit our What Goes Where guide at www.TorranceRecycles.org
