Lights out, cameras on
Want to relive the eclipse? Five JAM crew brought cameras to capture the solar spectacular across VT and even Montreal. Enjoy views from Molly's Falls Pond in Cabot; Barr Hill Nature Preserve in Greensboro; Wheeler Mountain in Sutton; McDonald Farm in St. Johnsbury; and Stowe in "Total Eclipse of Vermont." Our intrepid videographers included Kate Barber; Mike Cannon; Chico Eastridge; Jordyn Fitch; Reeve Green and Samantha Davidson Green; and Cedar O'Dowd.

Less juice, more bucks
JAM got a charge out of two recent Hartford Energy Commission workshops. The topic—how to save money by using less electricity. Weatherization, solar panels, and heat pumps all help, according to speaker Julian Leon of the VT Energy Education Program. Learn how solar panels and even bicycles can help spark, so to speak, energy savings at home. "I always recommend that do your homework," said Leon. "There're lots of incentives and rebates out there."

Remember to breathe
Did you know that JAM airs yoga classes three times a day? Tune into Comcast 1075 every day at 8 am, noon, and 5 pm for hour-long classes taught by local teachers including Heather Healey of Mighty Yoga; Angie Follensbee-Hall of Brownsville, VT; Leslie Carleton of Upper Valley Yoga; and Katie Cawley, formerly of Chelsea, VT. Each class is followed by meditation, also led by local yoga instructors. Namaste.

Saturday Morning Workshop
Saturday April 20 - 10AM-1PM

Through hands-on experience, participants will creatively work to tell a complete story, efficiently and effectively. The workshop will be based on broadcast journalism principles, but can be applied to all types of shorter form documentary and scripted filmmaking projects. Great preparation for the JAM 48 Hour Film Slam in May!

Media Arts Installation
Running April 12 - May 31

A multimedia installation exploring our relationship to home and the evolution of housing, deconstructing that relationship, and envisioning a new one.
A reception with the artists and other local housing advocates and organizations will be announced soon.

Gaelic May Day Festival

Beltane is the Gaelic May Day festival midway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice, marking the beginning of summer. Come share and enjoy poetry, music, and art to celebrate welcoming in warm weather and new life. Performances will be recorded by JAM to be played on our cable station and YouTube channel.

In 2012 David Celone couldn’t find a poetry reading group in the Upper Valley area, so he found a group of local poets and started one. Resurrecting after a pandemic hiatus, the Lampshade poets are back, meeting bimonthly at JAM, free and open to all, including poets who want to share work with the opportunity to be recorded for JAM’s cable and YouTube channels.
