Touch a Truck Event A Hit With Marina Residents

The Marina Coast Water District recently participated in the 6th annual Compass Touch a Truck Event where Lead Operator Corey showcased the District's new water service truck and crane. This truck carries the tools used to fix, repair, and install the District's water infrastructure.

Every truck door was open for curious kids to climb in and see firsthand what we do, and while it was out on display, Corey could not allow one little boy's request to swing around on the crane.  Overall, it was a friendly and informative morning teaching customers how we sustain their water systems.

District Gets Certified by Blue Zones Project

Recently, the Marina Coast Water District was certified by the Blue Zones Worksite Validation Project for its program to empower staff to live better, longer lives. This certification includes tracking metrics from baseline to progression to the final results of a group's activity.

For example, the District encourages staff to take hourly micro-breaks, where employees complete 10 stretches before resuming work. Micro-breaks can relieve stress by taking a brief rest to increase vigor and decrease fatigue.

Congratulations MCWD for creating a healthier work environment!

New Projects Improve Safety and Reliability

Marina Coast Water District is proud to provide high-quality services for our customers. Last year, our capital facilities projects benefited our customers while improving the safety and reliability of our water and wastewater systems. Below are some recent projects:

A1 and A2 Reservoirs and B/C Booster Pump Station

This project provides storage and improves fire-flow capacity and replaces and upgrades a booster pump station. The booster pump station improvement is necessary due to the dilapidated condition of the old facility, which was installed by the army in the 1950s. The booster pump station pumps most of the water that is served to the Ord Community. The tank reservoirs, pump station, and ancillary pipelines are located within easements on CSU Monterey Bay property.

Booker Lift Station Replacement

This project replaced an army-era sewage lift station. This station’s replacement ensures the safety and reliability of the Ord Community sewer system and further protects the environment and community.

Recycled Urban Water Augmentation Project (RUWAP)

This project expands the District’s recycled water distribution system. The scope includes five additional service area distribution mains and associated equipment. In addition, the project is now delivering recycled water to the Bayonet and Black Horse Golf Courses in Seaside.

Safely Dispose of Household Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) are leftover household products such as paints, cleaners, oils, batteries, and pesticides that contain hazardous ingredients. Under certain circumstances, they can ignite, become corrosive or toxic, and require special care when you dispose of them.

The improper disposal of HHW includes pouring them down the drain, on the ground, into storm sewers, or in some cases putting them out with the regular trash. To dispose of your HHW properly, check the list of accepted items for disposal at the Monterey Regional Waste Management District link below. Please remember to #DisposeResponsibly.
