Touching Hearts Tidbits

November 30, 2023

Message from Mrs. Nannen

It’s hard to believe that today is the last day of November and Christmas is right around the corner. I hope you are able to find time to slow down and enjoy family and friends during the next few weeks. The children have begun to learn their songs for the Christmas program and will be talking about the events leading up to Baby Jesus in their Jesus times.

Advent begins Sunday. You may ask, what is Advent? Advent is the time we prepare for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. This Sunday we light the first candle on the advent wreath. This candle is often referred to as the Hope candle. Here is a prayer as we light the first candle:

“O God, as we light the first candle of this Advent wreath, we open our hearts in hope. May the light of this candle remind us of the hope we have in you. May it inspire us to prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of your Son, Jesus Christ, our hope and our Savior. Amen.”

Playing Outside at Touching Hearts

Playing outdoors has benefits for both young children and educators. It’s a refreshing pause in the day’s schedule—time set aside to look and listen, explore and observe, move and let loose. Time spent outside allows children to use their large muscles and work off extra energy. Moving out into the fresh air also helps with keeping children healthier. As the weather gets cooler please make sure to bring appropriate clothing. (i.e. coats, mittens, and hats)

Operation Christmas Child

I, Mrs. Jenna Johnson, wanted to reach out on behalf of all of our faculty, staff, and students at Faith Lutheran and say THANK YOU! With the help of congregation members, Faith School and Touching Hearts families, and the Faith Foundation, we were able to pack and ship 203 Operation Christmas Child boxes to children all around the world! Please continue to pray that these 203 children come to know Jesus personally and hear the Gospel message!
