Support the Tougaloo College
1869 Annual Fund
|
Message from the Director of Alumni Affairs
Greetings Alumni and Friends,
As I reflect on my time as an Eaglet and now Soaring Eagle, I am reminded of both the privilege and responsibility of alumni to nurture and strengthen our Eagle Queen and to keep the Tougaloo tradition alive. This experience has truly been an honor serving as the intermediary between the College and alumni through the Office of Institutional Advancement as well as working diligently with the National Alumni Association.
As you may already know, the Tougaloo College 1869 Annual Fund is very important to the vitality and operations of the College and we need your support in maintaining the fund. Each year, the College supplements tuition with gifts from alumni, parents and friends who believe in the nurturing, rigorous living and learning environment. Your investment supports scholarships and an array of collegiate activities, which ensure that our students are equipped to compete in a global environment. Our alumni goal for June 30 is $1,450,000,
of
which
$393,219.36 has been raised to date. We are a good ways off but believe that with your help we will meet our set goal.
Most recently the College has rolled out our newest giving platform, Text 2 Give. You can now donate by texting "TOUGALOO" to 41444 directly from your mobile phone. I know you will be encouraged when you learn how we are continuously shaping the lives of our wonderful Tougaloo students, just as we have done for generations. It is because of "You" and your unwavering support, that our Alma Mater continues to teach and equip our students with the knowledge, skills and values needed to be successful and competitive in this global market. We look forward to your return home during our commencement weekend, and we are excited about the opportunity to reconnect with our Soaring Eagles

and Why Millennials (Generation Z) Will Be The One to End It
|
By: Tougaloo College Smoke Free Taskforce
Generation Z-is faced with a shrinking middle class and high teen unemployment, so it makes sense to worry about financial futures more than the generation before. All this financial anxiety has made generation Z, pretty good at saving. Nearly 60 percent of generation Z classify themselves as "savers" vs. "spenders," and more than two-thirds of us agree that constantly buying new stuff is overrated.
