All over the world, virtual events are being hosted to celebrate the achievements of the resilient graduates of the Class of 2020. Tougaloo College Class of 2020, this weekend we join national organizations such as All Def Digital, Facebook, Hennessy, Paul Quinn College, Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and Watch The Yard to celebrate you during three virtual events.
National HBCU Commencement Celebration
Class of 2020, your academic accomplishments will be recognized during the JPMorgan Chase Show Me Your Walk HBCU Edition with over 70 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) participating. Beginning Saturday, May 16th at 2 p.m. (EST)/1 p.m. (CST), on the Chase Twitter and YouTube channels, 44th US President Barack Obama and other presenters will acknowledge you. During the celebration, watch for a message from President Carmen J. Walters and be sure to participate and use the hashtags #ShowMeYourWalkTougaloo and #ShowMeYourWalk when posting to your social media channels. Click here for more information.
Dj D-nice’s Official National HBCU Commencement Celebration After Party

HBCU Cookout
Graduates, after attending the National HBCU Commencement Celebration and DJ D-Nice’s Official After Party on Saturday, May 16, don’t miss the HBCU Cookout Sunday, May 17, at 12 p.m. (EST)/11 a.m. (CST). Visit FACEBOOK.COM/AllDefDigital to celebrate with supporters and alumni of HBCUs who will honor your accomplishments and speak life over your future endeavors. Class of 2020, this virtual event will include all elements of an epic cookout!

EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL HONORS SCHOLARS
The Michelle Obama Early College High School at Tougaloo College is hosting Sequins & Sneakers , a virtual recognition of its scholars, Monday, May 18th at 10 a.m. (CST). President Carmen J. Walters will serve as speaker and pay tribute to the scholars receiving honors and special recognitions for the 2019-2020 academic year. KUDOS TO OUR ALUM!
Alumnus Tray Hairston is one of the newest members elected to the Belhaven University Board of Trustees. Hairston is an attorney at law and member of Butler Snow LLP’s Public Finance, Tax Incentives and Credit Markets Group. The focus of his practice is public finance and economic development. He also serves as an adjunct professor at the Mississippi College School of Law. Hairston earned his undergraduate degree from Tougaloo College, MBA from Belhaven University and Juris Doctor from the Mississippi College School of Law. Among Hairston’s many accomplishments and honors, he was inducted into the Tougaloo College 2016-2017 inaugural class,  Top 40 Under 40 , recognizing alumni for outstanding leadership and achievement.

Returning students who desire to reside on campus for the 2020-2021 academic year, click here to complete the Office of Residence Life's Room Selection Form. Mail your $50 Housing Reservation Fee (include your name, phone number and Tougaloo ID number) to: Tougaloo College, Office of Residence Life, 500 West County Line Road, Tougaloo, MS 39174.

Are you interested in becoming a Resident Assistant within our residence halls for the 2020-2021 academic year? Expect an email from the Office of Residence Life with instructions for applying Monday, May 18th. The deadline to apply is June 1st.
LET’S PRAY TOGETHER
The Let’s Pray Together calls with Chaplain Maxine Bolden will continue each week Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:00 a.m. (CST) throughout the month of May (excluding Memorial Day). Chaplain Bolden has invited members from various campus departments and offices to lead prayer and devotion on Wednesdays. During the month of June, the prayer calls will resume on Wednesdays. Join us in our effort to pray together while we remain physically apart.
TOUGALOO RECEIVES GRANT FROM THE ANDREW W. MELLON FOUNDATION
Tougaloo College is one of 16 Historically Black Colleges and Universities to receive $110,000 in emergency grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The funding will be used to assist Tougaloo students who were unexpectedly impacted by hardships resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
