Registration is Open!
Registration is now open for the 2021 tour. The window for registration is short, as I'll need to move from the registration phase to the rider list finalization and tour flag mailing phase, then on to the tour picture submission scoring phase. The Picture Submission Portal (PSP) will open on March 15, 2021.

Be sure to register early. Registration will likely end on February 28, 2021.

There is a Promo Code to get $5.00 off from January 1, 2021 through January 10, 2021. The promo code is:

I see that Paula has the patch for riding in the World Record Parade in Paris, TX, back in Oct 2019. I was there and have that patch also Paula. That was a great event hosted by one of the tour's sponsors!
September 11th Weekend
Mark the weekend of September 11th and 12th on your calendars. I'm in the early planning phase for holding a funding raising event for Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas on that weekend. It will be hosted out of the YO Ranch Hotel in Kerrville. A promo code will be provided in a later newsletter that will provide a discount on rooms.

The YO Hotel is one of the sponsors of the 2021 tour. So, you can get credit for that stop and make several other Hill Country tour stops over the weekend.

Some ideas I'm working on for that weekend include a Bike Blessing, vendors, auction items, a ride out to the Bent Rim Grill for lunch, a dinner with speakers, etc. More information to come as things develop...

VA Dogs of Texas is a non-profit organization that is included on the tour. They do great work in support of Veterans. Thank you to all the tour riders who donated to VA Dogs of Texas.
 
Their Operations Coordinator, Clayson Lambert, has provided the following update for the tour riders:

"After a long period of anticipation and preparation, VA Dogs will be taking delivery of their new dog kennel building.  The twenty four by sixty foot pre-fab unit, built by Amish carpenters, is set for arrival in late January 2021. It will contain sixteen individual dog runs.  The inside portion of the dog runs is climate controlled.

With the arrival and installation of the kennels, VA Dogs will no longer have to turn down rescue dogs due to a lack of holding space.

The kennels will be located on VA Dogs 20-acre training facility in Mountain Home Texas, a short distance from their home office in Kerrville.

Preparations for arrival, which are still underway, include moving fences to widen the entry corridor to the property, clearing trees, setting new electrical poles and water lines and pouring a slab the kennels will rest on."

Information on how you may make voluntary donations to VA Dogs of Texas will be posted on the tour website soon.

"I finished the tour today! Submitted my final pic at Stop 23 and included the wonderful owners to celebrate the event and make sure they continue to get recognition for sponsoring this great event.
After signing up for the tour and getting 1 stop completed in May, I ended up having achilles tendon surgery. Knocked me out of riding until September. Picked up the next 49 between Sept 5th and Dec 13th with 15 days of total riding. Had a great time doing it. Looking forward to 2021!"
Patches for Tour Finishers
We had 241 tour riders make it to "Tour Finisher" status (25 or more tour stops) on the 2020 tour. Of that group, 71 made it to all 50 tour stops. Great job y'all!

The patches are being mailed-out right now.

$1,000 Spending Spree
from Moto Liberty
Moto Liberty is one of the great sponsors of the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas.  

On May 15, 2021, they will conduct a drawing of registered riders on the 2021 tour.  The rider whose tour flag number is drawn will win a $1,000 spending spree from Moto Liberty! 

You do not have to have made a stop at Moto Liberty to be in the drawing.  I will provide the owner of Motor Liberty with the flag numbers of all of the registered riders.  She will then draw from those numbers to select the winner.  After she selects the winning flag number, I’ll provide her with the name and contact information for the number drawn. The drawing will take place in the store.
