Rural Tourism Symposium - January 16th, 2018 
 
Headwaters Tourism will be hosting a rural tourism symposium on Tuesday, January 16th: Where Rural Tourism Gets Real! 
 
Knowing that local is provincial is national when it comes to tourism, this symposium will inspire tourism operators to develop Canadian and Ontario signature experiences that align with our provincial and national tourism partners; and will feature keynote speaker Lisa Lavecchia from Destination Canada, as well as speakers from Destination Canada and other rural tourism destinations across the province.
 
Discover best practices in rural tourism, be inspired by rural tourism leaders, and help us give a voice to the importance of rural destinations in showcasing the best of Ontario and Canada.

Our multi-award winning Headwaters Four-Season Visitors' Guide will be published and distributed in the Globe & Mail in May 2018.
 
We are now booking advertising space in the 2018 edition of this annual consumer lifestyle publication that showcases the best of Headwaters to consumers across Ontario.
 
Last year advertising space sold-out quickly, so we encourage you to book your space for the 2018 edition now in order to avoid disappointment.

Headwaters Tourism Awards of Excellence - nominations NOW OPEN
   
Every year Headwaters Tourism celebrates excellence in the tourism and hospitality industry during our regional Headwaters Tourism Awards ceremony. This annual celebratory event honours businesses and individuals that exemplify excellence and who help position Headwaters as Ontario's premier tourism destination. 
 
We encourage you to consider nominating a worthy business or individual for a Headwaters Tourism Award of Excellence (self-nominations are encouraged).
 
Deadline for submissions:  December 15th, 2017
Award presentations:  Tuesday, January 16th, 2018

The Autumn Splendour of Headwaters was celebrated in a 6-page article in the September/October edition of West of the City magazine, an exclusive upscale magazine specifically targeting high-income demographic neighbourhoods within Burlington, Oakville & Mississauga.

Headwaters storms Niagara Falls  
Earlier this month, Headwaters businesses were featured in full force in Niagara Falls.
At the Handmade Market held at the Scotiabank Convention Centre, Headwaters was well represented by Wicked Shortbread, Ontario Honey Creations, EllemairCo., and artist Carrole Blakeman,  
 
Spirit Tree Estate Cidery, James MacDonald photographer, and the Headwaters Four-Season Visitors' Guide were recognized as finalists for Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence.
 
And Headwaters was showcased at the Ontario Tourism Summit held in Niagara Falls, as part of a session on the "Secrets of Success" to the 450+ conference delegates.

Spirit Tree Estate Cidery featured in Meetings Canada publication  

Don Douloff has been a restaurant critic for over 30 years and, during that time, has critiqued more than 1,400 eateries. He relishes exploring the edible universe in his native Toronto and on his travels throughout Canada and abroad. In October of this year, he visited Spirit Tree Estate Cidery.

Dufferin Board of Trade recognizes business excellence
 
On October 19th, the Dufferin Board of Trade presented their annual Business Excellence Awards.   
 
Congratulations to our tourism partners: Kitchen to the Table, Hockley Valley Resort, and Hats on Dufferin, for being recognized for business excellence.

In memoriam
 
On behalf of Headwaters Tourism and the Headwaters Equine Leadership Group, we extend our deepest condolences to the Grange family on the recent passing of Susan Grange.
 
Sue and her husband John Grange, own Lothlorien Farms in Caledon and have owned and bred some of Canada's most notable show-jumping and race horses. One of the greatest champions of the Canadian horse industry, Sue continued to be a big supporter of the local horse community, and in May 2016 was honoured with the first Headwaters Horse Country award for Leadership in Promoting Equine Sport.
 
 



2017 Ontario Tourism award winners announced
 
The best of the best in Ontario tourism were celebrated at the annual Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala on Tuesday, November 7th at the Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls.
