More than 330 industry professionals attended last year's Tourism Congress and over 450 delegates including 23 MPs enjoyed the Canadian Tourism Awards.

Headwaters Region well represented at 2018 Arts & Culture Awards
On Thursday, September 27th, the Town of Orangeville hosted Celebration of the Arts, an event that kicks off Culture Days while recognizing the positive impact of arts and culture in the community. Opening remarks were provided by The Honourable Sylvia Jones, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport and MPP for Dufferin-Caledon, Ruth Burns, Executive Director of Ontario Culture Days, and Jeremy Williams, Mayor of the Town of Orangeville. The highlight of the event was the presentation of the 2018 Arts and Culture awards in categories such as Arts Educator of the Year for which CJ Shelton took home the honours. 
Cheltenham Badlands officially re-opened 
The Ontario Heritage Trust - along with its managing partners, the Credit Valley Conservation and the Bruce Trail Conservancy - are proud to announce the reopening of the Cheltenham Badlands to the public as of September 22, 2018. The Cheltenham Badlands are one of Ontario's geological treasures, first formed at the base of an ancient sea over 400 million years ago. Learn how to #BeGoodtotheBadlands:

Fromage re-opens with new fully accessible location on Broadway
Fromage has now officially moved to its new location at 111 Broadway, just 2 doors down from TD Bank on Broadway in Historic Downtown Orangeville.
Cheers Caledon! recognized as a finalist for the Ontario Culinary Tourism Awards 
On September 14, 2018, the Culinary Tourism Alliance announced the roster of finalists for the 2018 Culinary Tourism Awards and Cheers Caledon! was named as one of three finalists for Event of the Year. Congratulations to the Town of Caledon for a fantastic achievement! Winners will be announced at the Ontario Tourism Awards Gala on October 24th, 2018, following the Ontario Tourism Summit.
Grand Closing Festivities underway at Soulyve Caribbean Kitchen
On the eve of their 9-year anniversary, Phil DeWar, owner of Soulyve Caribbean Kitchen and pillar in the downtown Orangeville community, has announced that the award-winning restaurant will be closing its doors on December 31st, 2018.  

Politics and Pie: Culinary Tourism Alliance visits Farmhouse Pottery Gallery & Café
Walking up to Farmhouse Pottery - home of Al Pace and his famous ceramic canoes - it appears to be just a log cabin nestled in the woods. Once inside though, it opens up into a cozy hop complete with a small cafe and patio. It was here that we came across one of the best pies we've ever had the pleasure of devouring.
'10 Tiny Towns with Big Ontario Appeal' features Rosemont Gems 
Blink and you'll miss the charming shops, cafes and restaurants on this short stretch of the 89 - but you'd be missing out. Rosemont is home to the Museum of Dufferin, The Globe Restaurant and The Rosemont General Store, all gems of the Headwaters Region.
Osprey Valley to become first TPC Network Property in Canada
Headwaters' own Osprey Valley, a collection of three courses just north of Toronto designed by acclaimed Canadian architect Doug Carrick, will join the PGA TOUR's TPC Network of premier golf facilities as TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley and become the first TPC property in Canada.
Shelburne Named one of 20 Canadian Towns set to Boom
The Town of Shelburne was named one of 20 sleepy Canadian towns set to boom in an article by Erin Daley.
Town of Caledon announces the newest inductee into Caledon's Walk of Fame
Cory Trepanier, world renowned oil painter, filmmaker and explorer, known for his for his passionate portrayal of Canadian landscapes, joins the ranks of other distinguished Caledon inductees such as artist Daphne Lingwood, filmmaker Normal Jewison, writer Farley Mowat, builder Conn Smythe and the founders of the McMichael Canadian Collection in nearby Kleinburg, Robert and Signe McMichael.
EQUUS Film Festival artwork recognized by Applied Arts
Promotional artwork created for the Headwaters Tour Stop of the EQUUS Film Festival by local design firm Touchwood Design Inc. received national award recognition (Applied Arts 2018 - Advertising Illustration). 

EDCO's 2018 Awards of Excellence open for submissions
Be awarded for your outstanding work in economic development and marketing initiatives. Winners will be announced at the 62nd Annual EDCO President's Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto. Deadline for submissions is this Friday, October 5, 2018.

The Rural Ontario Institute is now accepting Expressions-of-Interest from prospective municipal partners. Leverage support to implement youth engagement strategies through municipal internships.
