As we continue down the road to recovery, we are pleased to launch a reimagined way for our industry to learn more about Sonoma County and help enhance the visitor experience. The Accredited Hospitality Professional program is designed to provide robust insights into what makes Sonoma County so unique and trainings to create the highest level of customer experience possible. We felt it was time to develop a truly Sonoma County customized program that allows us to convey our own messages, provide a robust technology interface and make it our own! Great thanks to Tracy Koch for her work to develop the approach and programming, all who participated in the focus groups to help us understand the needs of our industry, and our curriculum subject matter experts and instructors who will provide the training courses. We welcome all to participate! More information and links to various program components are included below.

Thank you for all you’re doing to welcome visitors back to Sonoma County!

Spirit of Sonoma County Awards
For the 20th Annual Spirit of Sonoma County Awards, Sonoma County Tourism was honored to nominate a longtime champion of the tourism industry, Senator Mike McGuire.

In addition to hosting a number of forums to address the needs of the tourism and hospitality industry, Senator McGuire authored SB 285 - Tourism Recovery Act. This bill aims to provide $45 million in funding for Visit California to mount a recovery campaign designed to bolster economies of communities and cities across the state.

Mike McGuire’s tireless energy, unflappable integrity and creative approach to problem solving have made him a tremendous asset to this area and to the state of California. This year, his commitment to helping businesses of all sizes, but most especially small business and those that operate within the tourism and hospitality industry, has helped countless to better navigate the CARES Act funding and the other resources available.

We are so proud that Senator McGuire is from Sonoma County and is such a tremendous champion for the tourism and hospitality industry.

Radio Campaign for Responsible Travel
Over the Memorial Day weekend, and in the days leading up to it, Sonoma County Tourism ran radio advertising in the Sacramento and Bay Area markets—in both English and Spanish—encouraging responsible visitation along the Russian River and Sonoma Coast.

Sonoma County Regional Parks, in turn, ran radio spots on local stations with similar messaging. Both organizations will continue to broadcast this message throughout the summer, with Sonoma County Tourism targeting Independence and Labor Day weekends.

The radio campaign is part of a broader partnership between Sonoma County Tourism and Sonoma County Regional Parks, working with the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics on a set of seven Sonoma County tailored principles for visiting the outdoors with minimum impact.

We look forward to revealing the Sonoma County Leave No Trace Seven Principles in the coming weeks.
