Visit High Point Board of Directors Elect New Officers and Board Members

The Visit High Point Board of Directors elected their new officers at their December 16th board meeting. In addition, the board installed new voting members in 2020 that represent lodging; food and beverage; and at-large interest in tourism and destination development for the High Point area. Incoming members and executive leaders will continue to strengthen Visit High Point’s strategies to fulfill High Point’s long-range tourism plan as well as focused recovery post pandemic.

Meet The Board
Governor Cooper Extends Modified Stay At Home Order

Gov. Roy Cooper on Wednesday said he is extending the state’s modified stay-at-home order for three weeks, including a curfew, while the state’s top health official issued her own order to direct people to only leave home for essential activities. The governor’s order will continue to require that people stay home from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. It now will expire Jan. 29 at 5 p.m.

The Bienenstock Furniture Library Presents An Educational Experience For The Next Generation Of Designers

The Bienenstock Furniture Library is now taking applications for The Bienenstock Future Designers Summit happening September 20-22, 2021! The Future Designers Summit introduces the brightest young creative minds in college and university design programs to the people, brands, and processes that are creating tomorrow’s homes. A maximum of 50 students will be invited. Students must complete the application form to be considered. Students will be selected by the Bienenstock Furniture Library Student Summit Committee.

American Pickers Are Coming To North Carolina

Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and their team are excited to return to North Carolina! They plan to film episodes of the hit series American Pickers throughout North Carolina in March 2021. This documentary series explores the fascinating world of antique picking. As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics. Along the way, the Pickers want to meet characters with remarkable and exceptional items. The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way.

High Point Parks and Recreation Winter Bird Hike

Saturday, January 9th | 8am-10am

Grab your binoculars and coat and head outside to look for birds this winter! Join PEC staff as they hike the forest trails looking for winter residents such as Golden and Ruby-crowned Kinglets, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers and Brown Creepers. They will also stop at the pond and along the lakeshore to look for waterfowl that spend the season in the Piedmont. Beginners as well as experienced birders are invited to participate. Binoculars will be available for those that don't have them. Registration is required; cost is $3 per person.
High Point Museum Reopens

Saturday, January 9th | 10am

The High Point Museum and Historical Park will reopen this Saturday. Watch the costumed blacksmith in action as he crafts various iron pieces and see the new informational sign that was recently installed at the Jamestown Friends Meeting House and Cemetery.
