Towers Of Cheese
We do like a tower of cheese - and have been selling 'cheese wedding cakes' for years. The shop has given us another outlet for this eccentric but essentially harmless interest - and you'll remember that last week's newsletter featured a rather dramatic double-tower of Duckett's Caerphilly - which we had sitting on the counter. Cheese towers: what better way to show off the beautiful visual qualities of this lovely product? All those shapes, colours and textures! And as my friend Marcus used to say, 'they can't touch you for it'.

But the original reason for stacking up cheeses was the 'celebration cake': often, though not always, required for weddings - and we used to sell lots. This last year - with no wedding cake orders at all - has been very odd given that at one point we were selling a thousand a year! How, however, there's a trickle coming back in - which is nice, and to encourage this trend to continue we have this little prompt for you:

Order your Cheese Wedding Cake at 2019 Prices

Basically: all the cheese cakes you can see here - their prices haven't budged since 2019. We're going to have to look at that, but we won't do that until next month. So what I'm saying is: if you can place your cheese wedding cake order in the next week (before the end of April) those 2019 prices will be unchanged. These applies to all our off-the-peg cakes.

Towers Of Stone
Bovey Tracey, where we're based, is right on the corner of Dartmoor. That huge wilderness with its awe-inspiring granite tors (like the stunning Watern Tor, which we visited recently) is literally just up the road.

Perhaps this explains our interest in building towers of cheese!
