New Town Manager Appointed

The Herndon Town Council is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Hoffman as the new Town Manager, effective November 10, 2025.


“By selecting Dan Hoffman as Herndon’s next Town Manager, we’re welcoming a leader with a proven track record of strengthening organizations, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation,” said Herndon Mayor Keven LeBlanc. “His deep experience in local government and ability to turn vision into action will help Herndon thrive as a community where residents, businesses, and visitors feel supported and engaged.”


Hoffman brings over 25 years of leadership and public service experience. His career includes modernizing municipal operations, guiding strategic initiatives, advancing economic development, and building collaborative, high-performing teams.



“The Town of Herndon is a vibrant community, rich in history and poised for an exciting future,” said Hoffman. “I look forward to serving Herndon’s residents and Town Council, and to being part of the community’s next chapter.”


Hoffman joins Herndon from the City of Winchester, Virginia, where he served as City Manager for the past five years. During his tenure, he digitized key services, strengthened financial management, modernized community engagement, and led major economic development projects.


The Town Council looks forward to working with Mr. Hoffman to continue advancing Herndon’s strategic priorities and community values.

Housing Study Public Input Process Underway

The Town of Herndon is entering the wider public outreach phase of development of its first Comprehensive Housing Plan.Creation of the plan started in April 2025 with the selection of consulting firm TPMA, who recently completed a Housing Plan for the City of Fairfax. We hosted an interactive workshop with local stakeholders in July and is now seeking the opinions of the larger community.

Leaf Collection Begins October 6

Curbside leaf Collection begins October 6. Town crews will alternate weekly between north and south of the W&OD trail. Residents should rake leaves as close to the curb as possible without blocking storm drains, sidewalks or mailboxes and without impeding vehicular traffic. During leaf collection, grass clippings, shrub clippings and weeds must be placed in 30-gallon kraft, recyclable bags and should be placed out on your regular trash day. 


Following the scheduled fall collection, leaves must be placed in 30-gallon kraft recyclable bags and will be picked up on regular trash/yard waste collection days.

North of W&OD Trail

on your trash day only


Fall clean-up will take place throughout the town on October 15-17 on your trash day only. Fall clean-up provides an opportunity for residents to place large or bulky items curbside for pick-up on their scheduled trash collection day, free of charge.


Items may include:

  • Appliances (remove doors), each item may not exceed 100lbs.
  • Furniture & mattresses, each item may not exceed 100lbs.
  • Vehicle parts and plumbing fixtures (all under 50 lbs.)
  • Tires (no rims, maximum two per household)
  • Limited amount of building materials (approximately one cubic yard, lengths not to exceed four feet)



Not allowed: Loose yard waste, auto parts in excess of 50 lbs., large quantities of building materials, household hazardous, and electronics (e-waste) to include computers, televisions, monitors, printers, stereos, etc. will NOT be picked up. Due to fire hazards, all motorized items and small engine tools must be free of gas and oil and have the batteries removed. 

 

Please place items away from regular trash containers and group similar items (e.g., metal) together. Items should be placed curbside by 6am on your trash day only, but no earlier than 24 hours prior to pick-up.

The Herndon Farmers' Market enters its final month. This your last chance to get all the fresh, local produce of the season. Come and enjoy the remaining weeks, support local vendors, and stock up on autumn vegetables, fruits, and other goods before the market closes for the winter. See you there!
