The Early Voting period for the Democratic Primary began runs through August 9. Early Voting will take place in the Ludlow Room at Windsor Town Hall on the following days and hours:
- August 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- August 4 and 6: 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Only voters registered as Democrats may participate in the primary.
You can request an absentee ballot online by clicking the button below or you can call the Town Clerk’s Office at 860-285-1902 for an application. Applications and absentee ballots can be turned in by using the secure drop box in the town hall parking lot. The deadline to return an absentee ballot is 8:00 PM on August 11th.
All polling locations will be open on Tuesday, August 11th, 2026, from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM for the 2026 Democratic Primary Election. Please remember to check your polling location on our website by clicking the button below.

Join the Windsor Police Department for the 2026 National Night Out Celebration on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on the Windsor Town Green.
Bring your family, friends and neighbors for an evening of community fun with great food, live music, games and activities, raffles and giveaways and opportunities to meet your Windsor Police Officers and community partners.
Please bring a non-perishable food item to Stuff-a-Cruiser to support the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank.
| | Windsor Lion's Club Drive-Thru Food Collection | | |
On Saturday, August 8th from 9 AM to 1 PM, the Windsor Lions Club will hold a Drive-Thru Food Drive to benefit the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank. The collection effort will take place rain or shine in the parking lot of the L.P. Wilson Community Center at 599 Matianuck Ave. in Windsor, where the community food bank is located.
The public is invited to bring a bag of non-perishable food (no glass containers please) Items especially needed at this time include, coffee/tea, canned pasta, baked beans, condiments, crackers, cereal, and canned fruits and vegetables.
Also, donations can be made in the form of cash, checks and credit cards – checks can made out to: The Lions Club Charitable Foundation of Windsor (please note WFFB in the memo line).
| | Grandparent & Kinship Circle and Weekend Wheels Back-to-School Social at Sharshon Park | |
The Social Services Department’s Grandparent and Kinship Circle, a program funded in part by the North Central Area Agency on Aging (NCAAA), continues to support grandparents and kinship caregivers who are raising a second generation of children through resources, support, and community connections. On Thursday, August 20th, from 4:00–6:00 PM at Sharshon Park, the department will host its first Back-to-School Social for families enrolled in the Grandparent/Kinship programs and the Weekend Wheels Student Backpack program.
Windsor Public Schools Food Services will assist families with free or reduced-price school meal applications, while the Wilson branch library staff will provide information about its free one-on-one tutoring and homework help program for Windsor students in grades 1–8. Donated school supplies will also be available.
| Production of There's a lot to do in Windsor magazine | |
Two recent developments have financially impacted the production and delivery of the fall, and future editions of the town’s magazine, There’s a lot to do in Windsor. They are: 1) a change in the printing company and 2) delivery method of the magazine.
The printing company who had been awarded the bid has gone out of business. Staff has awarded the printing of the upcoming fall edition to the second lowest bidder, Graphic Image. Graphic Image agreed to honor their bid from December, which is $1,134 higher than the previous vendor.
The method of delivering the magazine is also changing as the Hartford Courant is no longer distributing their food and flavor publication, which was delivered to all homes in town. This was the method of delivery of the magazine to residents since 2001. For the fall edition of our There’s a lot to do in Windsor delivery will be via the U.S. postal service (approx. $3,000 per issue) We continue to explore other distribution methods for future issues.
| Windsor POCD Communication Efforts Are Finalists to Receive National Recognition | |
We were recently notified the Town is a finalist in two separate categories of 3CMA’s annual Savvy Award competition.
3CMA (City, County Communications & Marketing Association) is the Public Relations department’s professional organization. The Savvy Awards celebrate exceptional achievements in local government, public-sector marketing and resident-government relations.
This year, 1,200 entries across nearly 40 categories were received. Windsor’s “Summer of 10,000 Flowers: Growing Community Engagement for Windsor’s POCD” is a finalist in both the “Most Innovative Communications” category and the “Best Use of a Promotional Item” category. Awards will be announced on September 10th at the annual professional development conference in Denver, CO.
| 9/11 Walk of Light Community Rememberance Ceremony | |
In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Town of Windsor will host a Walk of Light community remembrance ceremony on the historic Windsor Town Green beginning at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Members of our public relations team will be on the town green August 4th at the National Night Out event and August 20th at the concert on the green with luminaries and decorating supplies for anyone to stop by and decorate a luminary.
A total of 2,977 decorated paper luminary bags - each inscribed with the name of a person who lost their life in the terrorist attacks - will line the sidewalks of the Windsor Town Green. At dusk, the luminaries will be illuminated with glow sticks, creating a powerful tribute to those who perished on that tragic day.
