On Thursday, July 9th there will be a fun filled afternoon and evening on the Town Green. This event is hosted by First Town Downtown in partnership with several other community organizations and sponsors and is part of the yearlong Windsor250 community celebration. Starting at 2:00 PM, there will be a host of activities including music, farmers market, food and games. The evening will be capped off by FTDT’s Thursday night concert featuring the Savage Brothers.
The northbound lanes of Broad Street will be closed with traffic detoured on Batchelder Road onto Mechanic Street and back to Route 159 via Central Street. Southbound travel lanes will remain open.
| | On July 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Team S.H.A.R.P, Team Blazing Spirits, and Team Paragon will be collecting bottles and cans at 20 William Street in Windsor, CT. William Street is located off of Bloomfield Ave between the Fire/EMS building and McDonald's. The Team Paragon trailer is in front of the building, and students and mentors will be there to collect your donations. The Town Clerk's Office has been preparing for the August 11, 2026, Democratic Primary which includes the following offices: Governor, Representatives in Congress, and 2nd State Senator.
The Early Voting period for the state primary is August 3, 2026 to August 9, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM on August 3, 5, 7, 8, and 9, 2026 and between the hours of 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM on August 4, 2026 and August 6, 2026. Early Voting will take place during the designated hours in the Ludlow Room located at Town Hall 275 Broad Street Windsor.
As a reminder for voters who wish to vote by absentee ballot, an application must be submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office as soon as possible. Absentee Ballot applications can be picked up from the Town Clerk's office or voters can apply online at myvote.ct.gov/absentee beginning June 27, 2026. Real Estate, Personal Property, & Motor Vehicle Taxes have been delayed until August 1st this year due to multiple budget referendums.
Tax bills are expected to be mailed by July 24th and will be available for online payment by that date. Bills will be due on August 1, 2026. Bills need to be paid by the end of day Tuesday, September 1, 2026 to avoid interest charges.
Any bills not paid in full by September 1st will incur a monthly interest fee of 1.5% starting from the original due date of August 1st, for a total interest charge on September 2nd of 3%.
| 9/11 Walk of Light Community Rememberance Ceremony | |
In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the Town of Windsor will host a Walk of Light community remembrance ceremony on the historic Windsor Town Green beginning at 6:00 PM on Friday, September 11, 2026.
A total of 2,977 decorated paper luminary bags - each inscribed with the name of a person who lost their life in the terrorist attacks - will line the sidewalks of the Windsor Town Green. At dusk, the luminaries will be illuminated with glow sticks, creating a powerful tribute to those who perished on that tragic day.
Members of our public relations team will be on the town green on July 9th as part of the Windsor 250th event with luminaries and decorating supplies for anyone to stop by and decorate a luminary.
