Our Municipal Court Judges recently attended the annual judicial conference hosted by the Arizona Supreme Court’s Administrative Office of the Courts. This year’s event was held in Scottsdale and featured a 2.5-day agenda.

The conference included a wide range of sessions on ethics, courtroom best practices, legislative updates, and emerging technologies in judiciary. It provided a valuable opportunity for judges to exchange ideas, gain new insights, and strengthen connections with colleagues from across the state.

We are deeply grateful to our volunteer judges for their dedication to the rule of law and commitment to continuous learning.

Coffee with a Cop

This month, PVPD welcomed Arizona Game and Fish to present on Living with Wildlife.

They shared valuable tips on how to prevent negative encounters and discourage wildlife from becoming too comfortable around people.

Did you know Paradise Valley was one of the key municipalities that helped establish Arizona law 13-2927? This law prohibits feeding wildlife—except for tree squirrels and birds—to help keep our communities safe.

Please remember:

  • Don’t leave food out for animals
  • Always supervise small pets when outdoors
  • To help deter coyotes and other wild animals, you can mix 10–20% ammonia with water in a spray bottle and use it as a safe, effective repellent if an animal gets too close

Let’s work together to keep our wildlife wild and our community safe!

Fireworks Safety Reminders

Fireworks Safety Tips from the Paradise Valley Police Department:

Fireworks are permitted in the Town of Paradise Valley from June 24th - July 6th. Here are some tips on how to celebrate the birth of our nation safely.

Stay safe this fireworks season with these essential tips:

  • Keep a Safe Distance: Light fireworks in open areas, away from buildings, dry grass, or flammables. In Paradise Valley, fireworks are banned on public property, public roads, and within 500 yards of Mummy Mountain Preserve.

  • Adult Supervision Only: Never let children handle or light fireworks, including sparklers, which can burn at over 1,200°F.

  • Use Protective Gear: Wear safety glasses and keep a bucket of water or hose nearby for emergencies.

  • Soak Before Disposal: Avoid a fire or melted trash bin by soaking spent fireworks before throwing them away.

  • Don’t Relight Duds: If a firework doesn’t ignite, wait 20 minutes, then soak it in water before disposing.

  • Avoid Alcohol: Stay sober while handling fireworks to maintain clear judgment.

  • Store Safely: Keep unused fireworks in a cool, dry place, away from heat sources.

Let’s celebrate responsibly!
