Road Closure: Stallion Rd at Mockingbird Ln

Start Date: Monday 8/3/26

Closure: Stallion Rd will be closed at Invergordon; Detours will be provided

What: Sidewalk Ramp and Concrete Improvements

Additional Work: On Mockingbird Ln at Bluebird Ln and Cuarenta Ct (roads to remain open)

During these days, construction crews will have traffic shifted around their work zones while they are improving sidewalk ramps and other concrete infrastructure improvements. The sidewalks in this area will be closed for pedestrian access. Access to Cuarenta Ct and Bluebird Ln will be maintained, with brief delays as needed. Stallion will be closed at Invergordon for several days, with a detour route at Northern/Mockingbird Ln.

Additional information will be available as the roadwork continues throughout the next several weeks.

Invergordon Roadwork: Chaparral to Lincoln Drive

August 3 - August 12

Start Date: Friday 8/7/26

End Date: Wednesday 8/12/26

What: Pavement Repairs

Where: On Invergordon and Chaparral

From Chaparral to Sage: Pavement Repairs will occur for the full width of the roadway. Traffic will be shifted around work. The road is planned to be milled Friday 8/7 and repaved Monday 8/10. Cholla Trailhead Parking will be closed along Invergordon on these 2 days. Striping is scheduled for Wednesday 8/12

From McDonald to Lincoln: Pavement repairs will be limited to a portion of the roadway. Town contractors are scheduled to mill and pave Tuesday 8/11. Striping is scheduled for Wednesday 8/12

Chaparral from Invergordon to Casa Blanca: Pavement repairs will be limited to a portion of the roadway and are scheduled for 8/7 & 8/11. Traffic will be shifted around the road work.

Town Hall Lobby Update

Visitors to the Paradise Valley Town Hall are likely to notice a recent change in our lobby. The door between the lobby and the Council chambers is now closed during business hours.

A telephone and contact list has been installed in the lobby for visitors to reach out to staff with whom they have appointments, or to request general access to view the art provided by the local featured artist. Individuals requiring immediate assistance they may also speak with the Post Office for entry.

Welcoming Our Newest Paradise Valley Police Officers

Please join us in welcoming Officer Alex Lonien #257 and Officer Timothy Mitchell #258 to the Paradise Valley Police Department.

Officer Lonien and Officer Mitchell joined the Paradise Valley Police Department in June and recently reached an important milestone in their law enforcement careers by successfully passing the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) certification examination. This achievement officially qualifies them to serve as Arizona peace officers and reflects the dedication, professionalism, and hard work they have demonstrated throughout their training.

On Wednesday, both Officers were officially sworn in by Chief Freeman Carney during a ceremony attended by their families, friends, fellow officers, and department staff. The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of their service to the Town of Paradise Valley and celebrated the commitment they have made to protecting and serving the Town of Paradise Valley community. We are honored to welcome them as the newest members of the Paradise Valley Police Department family.

Both officers bring a wealth of knowledge, valuable experience, and a steadfast commitment to protecting the communities they serve. Their backgrounds in leadership, tactical operations, investigations, emergency response, and community engagement will be tremendous assets to our department and the Town of Paradise Valley.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Lonien and Officer Mitchell on this significant achievement and in welcoming them to the Paradise Valley Police Department. We are excited to have them on our team and look forward to the positive impact they will make as they serve and protect the Town of Paradise Valley.

Coming Up: August Coffee with a Cop - Back-to-School Safety

As students prepare to return to the classroom, the Paradise Valley Police Department invites residents to attend our next Coffee with a Cop on Wednesday, August 5, featuring a presentation on Back-to-School Safety by the Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education.

As a new school year begins, families face a variety of safety considerations—from pedestrian and bicycle safety to school zone awareness, online safety, and helping children make responsible decisions both in and outside the classroom. This presentation will provide parents, caregivers, and community members with practical information and resources designed to help students start the school year safely and confidently.

Educational outreach plays a vital role in crime prevention and community safety. By equipping families with current information and best practices, we can work together to create a safer environment for students, motorists, pedestrians, and the entire Paradise Valley community throughout the school year.

We encourage residents to join us for another engaging morning of coffee, conversation, and valuable safety education.

Hiking Safety Tip: Hike Only on Approved, Publicly Accessible Trails

As many of you may have heard, this week we had a successful helicopter rescue of a hiker off of Mummy Mountain. We are thankful the hiker is ok, and grateful for the response from Phoenix Fire and our Paradise Valley Police.

This is a good reminder to exercise great care and caution when hiking or any exertion outdoors this time of year. It is also a reminder that there are no public hiking trails on Mummy Mountain, and that the Mountain is either privately owned or held in the Paradise Valley Mountain Preserve Trust, and in either circumstance is not open to hiking. Be aware and stay safe!
